Is there a simple way to carry field information forward to the next record? For example, in FoxPro, there is a command called ‘set carry on’ that allows a person to enter data into a field and populates the next record same field with that same information. The information can be changed at any time and the newer info will be carried to the next record, etc., saving lots of time with data entry. Any help will be appreciated.

AskWoody_MVPNovember 1, 2004 at 5:44 pm #894235There isn’t a really simple way of doing it automatically – that requires some VBA code. There is however a keystroke combination CTRL-‘ which does copy info from the previous record into the same field that currently has focus. One of the reasons that isn’t always a good idea is that with Access you can have filters and sorts which change the value of the previous record – but if you know for sure that as you enter the next record that you want to copy data from the current record some VBA will do the trick. If you want some guidance on doing that, one of the loungers would be more than willing to help.
