Can’t update firmware of Sam 870 EVO connected to USB/Unitek adapter

I cranked up Sam Magician to look at my new nvme 970 and it told me that my Sam 870 EVO (2.5″) has a firmware upgrade available. It is connected by USB/Unitek adapter. I d/l the firmware and tried rufus to put the iso on a stick but when booted it couldn’t find anything. Same with the unetbootin stick creat software that Samsung suggests. There appears to be no way to chat or call Sam with these products.

Anybody have an idea? (it is not a bootable drive – just data, mixed NTFS and ext4)

I don’t think any USB adapter would allow the update.  If you could temporarily install it in a desktop computer with SATA data cable and power the firmware update should work, or in an extra SATA port in a laptop.  https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/updating-samsung-850-evo-firmware-via-usb-enclosure.2088540/

I suspect you are correct. That makes me wonder if there is  a sata port on this T570. Else I could just grab my old T530, swap the HD, and boot to the stick I made.

yeah I stuck it in the T530 and after playing with the Bios settings a bit got it to boot the usb stick and it quickly updated the firmware. Connected it back to the T570 and Samsung Magician says its unverified/authentication is required. However it seems to work perfectly so I will ignore that. Thanks!
