I can record through the mic but that sucks big time. the sound is controlled by Conexant HD Audio Driver v 4.91.7.51 X64 Gateway has an update for the audio v 4.98.9.0.X64 I have tried every way I can think of but 4.98.9.0 X64 won’t update it fails.

I just loaded Windows 7 on the nv52 and have a dual boot system and installed conexant hd audio driver 4.98.9.0. Guess what? There is no Multi-Media device or Stereo mixer in that one either. Isn’t Acer wonderful. The only recording device is the mic. I think they don’t want their customers to record copyrighted music from the web. Freecoder is out there. So I guess I use that. My next laptop won’t be an Acer or Gateway thats for sure. Sony must have paid to them off.

Thats freecorder and it will record audio, and video. So Acer and Gateway can stick there drivers in their ear. http://www.applian.com/freecorder4/

Solved….. I don’t understand why anyone wanted to reply to this problem. . . Anyway this is not a Vista or Conexant problem. It is Acer’s doing. They wrote the drivers this way on purpose. It does not matter what their reason. It is not going to change. So quit looking for drivers and just download Freecorder that works for me.

Unfortunately, we do not always have solutions we might suggest. This sounds like a problem associated with a particular variation of a particular PC manufacturer. Without being able to physically work on the PC, there are just times no one will have a possibility.
