The function to be able to right mouse click a program’s name title to bring up a list of items including its “Properties”, quit functioning about 3 or 4 months ago.

    Desktop page: Start/All Programs/”any program’s name title”

How to fix to bring back this capability?

I have searched Google for hours and a few days and have found nobody with this issue.

    Thanks for any help

      Try this
      Control Panel\Taskbar and Start Menu\Start Menu\Customize
Check the box “Enable context menus and dragging and dropping”
      Click OK
      Click Apply

And if that doesn’t work, be very suspicious of the mouse. Try it on a different computer, or try a different mouse on the affected computer.

Yes, had this already setup as you have described.

      Thanks, anyway

I have read previously this may be the culpret. In a flight sim I play with right clicking the mouse works just fine.

I will buy a brand new mouse identical to its buttons setup and change it out to see if there is a difference.

      Thanks

OK, now you hit on another possibility. The Flight Sim program may have changed what the right mouse button does. Check Control Panel\Mouse settings AND the settings within the Flight Sim for the mouse buttons. You may find the answer one of those places. If the Flight Sim changed the right click function, that may be the answer.

Thinking about putting my Windows 7 Pro CD in my cd reader tray and attempting a repair of this feature.

Would doing a repair just fix this issue or do I risk reverting back 7 years to my original fresh installation and lose my files and such stuff?

A repair does not just fix a feature. It does a repair install of Windows. With a repair install, your data should be safe. And SUPPOSEDLY your programs will be OK, BUT some may not be. In that case you may have to reinstall those programs.

The best advice I can give is BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP. Before you attempt this, make an image of your computer and a separate backup of the files under your ID (C:\Users\”Your ID”)_
