      Your document is totally corrupt. Nothing can be recovered.

        Thank you. I think there is no way to solve it.

          Yes. That is what Paul said. One of the most frequent ways such corruption is caused is by using Word to manipulate/edit/print documents that are on removable media like flash drives. Within Word, you should act as if such devices do not exist.

            ?? Really? I have had hundreds of students saving hundreds of documents (and spreadsheets, and slide decks) to (and from) flash drives with no evidence of corruption. Curious why you think this is true?

              Definitely true. Typically caused by people removing the drives without using the ‘safely remove’ process. Word documents are especially vulnerable to this, partly because of the way USB drives cache data, which don’t always get the final data written until the safe removal and Word’s habit of storing of temporary files (which includes saved and unsaved copies of the document).

      Would this help… Click File/ Open (don’t use shortcut, click File and then Open). Under “Files of Type” scroll down and choose “Recover Text From Any File”. Sometimes you get lucky. Or try opening it from Notepad. Again, sometimes you get lucky.

      The attached .docx file is only 162 bytes. A blank .docx file is approx. 10k (at least), i.e. very, very much bigger even when there’s not a single character typed.

      The .docx format is basically an archive file so I downloaded the attached .docx file, re-named it to test.zip and un-zipped it with WinRAR to see if I could recover any text from the document.xml file contained within the archive. All I got was an error saying it was corrupt. I tried again with Universal Extractor but got the same error that the archive was corrupt.

      I was going to let the OP know but macropod beat me to it in post #2… as he said, the document is totally corrupt and nothing can be recovered.

      Dear forum members;

      I am very thankful to your replies and your will to help. The file was for my brother. He has an old file of it, so he presumed his work on that file and started again on that one.

      Accept my warm regards.
