So, since 10 and 11 are equally frustrating I’m posting here, hope that’s ok?

Having been fighting Win 10 for the best part of 2 years on one laptop, I’ve been forced to buy another machine. This one came with Win 11, which I vaguely hoped, or fervently wished, would be more user friendly than 10. Forlorn hope! For instance, the clipping tool, such a useful app for so many years. It’s still there in Win 11, re-named of course, well it would have to have a new name to go with the all new OS, unfortunately it doesn’t work. It does seem to start, I can drag the cursor around the text that I want to copy, then in an instant it vanishes. No offer to save anything.

Is it me? Or the new laptop? Or is there some secret known only to a select few?

Why can’t you get the Windows 11 forum, i.e. what happens?

Could you confirm that the app you’re using is Snipping Tool?

How to get started with the Snipping Tool app in Windows 11

Lame me didn’t change the link to https://www.askwoody.com/forums/forum/askwoody-support/windows/windows-11/ in the upper menu  Will do and will move your post.

Should the title of this thread be changed to reflect the question the OP asked?

I’ve just tried on my Win 11 laptop and it works as it should. Did you press the left button before moving the cursor to select where you wanted to snip? I expect you did but it’s always worth asking.

I have just tried “snipping” a paragraph of text, and to my amazement it worked! The only thing that has changed since I posted is that I got a warning that there were updates to be installed. Somewhat reluctantly I let it get on with updating whatever it wanted. Maybe the snipping tool got updated?

      However, thanks for the responses,
