what URL is displayed if you right click on the link, and open in a new window?

      Thanks!

Thanks for getting back. I don’t have a favorite for Google. I type the URL in the address box.

What error message is displayed when you try to access google?

If you click here, are you taken to google?

DrkRealm, I had to wait to get home to try it. The link on your response did not work. I get a “Page cannot be displayed” message. It is as if my computer blocks the Google URL.

We had a problem when our ISP was acquired by a different company: there were two supposedly authoritative domain name records for our web site, and everyone who shared our old ISP’s name servers had the wrong address. However, since your wife is on the identical connection, this can’t be the problem.

There is a file in the c:windows folder (on NT/2000 it is harder to locate) called ‘hosts’ which stores IP address mappings. IE checks this file first, I believe, before checking with the site’s name server. It is possible, though not very likely, that you have a bad address mapping in a hosts file.

If all else fails, you can temporarily bookmark this: http://216.239.33.100/

That was it. You are a genius. I opened the Hosts file, deleted the Google line, typed http://www.google.com in the address box and, viola, Google opened. Thank you so much.
