Can’t Edit Web withFP (FP 2003)

I updated my office suite to 2007. Now I can’t edit my web site with Frontpage 2003. It wants to edit with Excel 2007. What happened and how do I get FP to work as my editor?

I believe so–I’ve opened the application. Should I reinstall?

No, you shouldn’t reinstall FP2003 after installing Office 2007.

You’ll have to tell Windows to open the relevant files with FrontPage again. Try the following:
– Right click a file you want to edit with FrontPage.
– Select Open With from the popup menu.
– If there’s a submenu, select Choose Program… from the submenu.
– If FrontPage 2003 is in the list, select it, otherwise click Browse… and locate FrontPage.
– Tick the check box “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file”.
– Click OK.

I’m sure Hans’ method works, but I believe you can also set your HTML editor in Internet Explorer’s Options as below.

I already checked the internet options and it’s set to FP.

In your registry, what do you have in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerDefault HTML Editorshelleditcommand
(Start > Run > Regedit [enter] then navigate to the entry above…)

Can you try setting the option in IE to something else (e.g. Word), rebooting the changing it back to Frontpage?

Does FP ask you if it can be the default editor when it starts?
