Can anyone tell me how to delete a blank page in a Word document. I sometimes create a 2 page Word .doc file and save it. Later I edit the 1st page leaving it about half the orig. size. Same for 2nd page. I then cut / paste the remainder of the 2nd page onto the 1st page which leaves a blank 2nd page. When I print the .doc the printer always spits out a blank 2nd page. Am I just not looking in the right menu or what?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

GuestAugust 19, 2001 at 7:53 pm #1787136Along with jscher2000’s advice, Normal view works the best for this type of problem.
Normal view displays the end of document mark, the small horizontal line on the left side. This should be flush against the last typed paragraph unless the last item is a table.
Press or click in the toolbar to turn on the on the nonprinting characters. Place your cursor at the end of the last word typed and press delete until the end of document mark move up and the extra paragraph marks ( ) have been removed.
If you have a table at the end of the document, there will be one paragraph mark below the table that you can not remove. If your page break is between it and the table, you can adjust your margins or try the 1 pt. paragraph mark “trick”.

AskWoody LoungerAugust 19, 2001 at 7:19 am #1787132You could have a section break there or a page break as jscher suggests. If you delete the section break, you may not have what you intended. It may be easier to hit ctrl-a and go to File-Page setup, Layout tab and set the section start to “continuous”, which will avoid problems with deleting the section break. If you don’t lose anything by deleting the section break, then just delete it as you would the page break.

AskWoody LoungerAugust 19, 2001 at 6:54 pm #1787135Sometimes you can’t get rid of a page because you have hit the Enter key to many times. Click on the Show/Hide button, it looks like a paragraph symbol to the left of the zoom control on the standard toolbar. Then go to the bottom of your document, do you see a string of Paragraph symbols? If so delete them. I hope this helps.
Just for general knowledge. When you have one page that does not go to the end of the page it is advisable not to hit the enter key multiple times to move the the next page. If you are a keyboardist press Ctrl+Enter to move to the next page. Otherwise, select the Insert menu > Break > Page break. If you use a string of Enters to move to the next page the placement of text will be interrupted the minute you start adding or deleting text to the top of the document.
