    HELP!?!

I am running Win98 (original edition). In Windows Explorer, all of the sudden, I can no longer drag-and-drop files from one disk drive to another. I also cannot copy or cut and paste files from one drive to another.

All other functions of Explorer seem to work OK. I can double-click .exes and they execute. I can double click .jpgs and view them. Etc………….

      What happens when you try?

        Thanks for responding.

Nothing happens. No sounds from the disk drives, no clicking, no error messages……absolutely nothing happens….and the file or files do not copy or move to the designated drive……..

I assume you mean two physical drives. Do both appear in Device Manager without a nasty yellow exclamation ?

Back up your registry before trying this (that’s both User.dat & System.dat.)!!!
      1. Download the attached file. It is actually a reg file, but I can’t upload reg files to the Lounge. It will say DragDrop1.txt.
      2. Place it anywhere. I keep all my reg files in a folder C:WINDOWSDesktopEditReg Files
      3. Select it & rename it to have a “reg” extension (i.e. replace txt with reg).
      4. Right click it & choose Merge. I don’t recall if you have to reboot or not.

      Hope this helps.
