    Hi,

I have one workstation in the office that suddenly can’t access any Yahoo sites. Other workstations have no problem so I know it’s not a firewall issue. We’ve tried rebooting the machine, cleaning up the cookies and temp files. All the security settings seem to be the same as on my workstation, which can access Yahoo…any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

Each machine SHOULD have it’s own firewall, are you sure it is NOT the firewall?

Check to see if it is blocked in “Restricted sites” the security area of IE options.

Also check the hosts file to see if Yahoo! has been redirected to an invalid IP address. If it has, it could be a sign of a spyware infection.

The hosts file?…how do I do that?

        Thanks,

In Windows XP, look in this folder:

          C:WINDOWSSYSTEM32DRIVERSETC

hosts does not have a file extension, so a quick way to take a peek is right-click & copy, right-click an empty area & paste, rename with a .txt, then double-click to open in Notepad.
