I am running 24.04 on two PC’s a Dell laptop and a Dell desktop. Was convinced to try Ubuntu will all that is happening with Windows 11. I do not really need such a bloat filled OS like Windows. Especially on hardware not exactly top tier to begin with. I am skeptical of a person like me trying a rolling release as I guess its called. I tried Fedora a couple times which is sort of that cutting edge Linux too. My hardware is so vanilla that I guess my question is could I benefit from a rolling release with probably a more recent Kernel and possibly improved system performance. My laptop has a 12th gen U series and my desktop a 8th gen i5. No dedicated GPU or anything of the sort. I definitely find 24.04 much snappier then Windows 11 and install size and RAM use significantly reduced. I feel like I am running Windows 98 or XP in terms of how much better it responds. I was tied of gaining performance for it only to be eaten up by Windows increased need for better hardware. I am convinced as a home user that I can easily replace Windows with Ubuntu in all my PC needs.
