What driver are you installing? I don’t have experience with Canon printers but I went to the Canon website to find out that, yes, there isn’t a Windows 10 driver specifically for the MP470. But there is one for the MP472 and it is generically called “MP470 series Full Driver & Software Package…” I can’t believe the MP472 is that much different than the MP470.Hope this helps…

GuestDecember 6, 2015 at 11:49 am #48493We had two workhorse old hp laser printers that were going to run for ever. One simply won’t install at all. The other doesn’t show its being installed but sort of works with my boutique word processor. We had to buy new printers, really frustrating.
Interesting, our paid on line service to help fix problems spent over an hour and half before giving up, never once mentioning some printrs won’t work. When we called back we got a different agent who had exactly the same problem we did and commiserated, saying he too had to buy a new printer.

As Canon has not tested this functionality, we make no guarantees that this will work or that full functionality will be available, but you may wish to try this option.”

GuestDecember 6, 2015 at 7:42 pm #48495Out of curiosity, I copied the link that Woody provided. Below is a message from earlier today on the thread:

See post historyI tried a driver scan program. Did not download their exe program, but after that they had other drivers. When I tried one of them, I actually downloaded a driver to a Canon MP 476 printer. The exe file was Canon_PIXMA_MP476_1_64.exe. I installed this and my MP 470 printer now prints with Windows 10, 64 bit.

Did you check this Hewlett-Packard [HP] support site to see if your old HP Laserjet printers will work on Windows 10?
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04658195If your HP laser printers are about a decade old and/or they’re not listed on the Win10 compatible printers list page, then you need to buy new printers.
On the other hand as for me, my family’s HP Officejet 6500 E710n printer which we bought back in late 2010, works under Windows 10 with the existing Win8 based driver released back in late 2012 as I tested it myself.

GuestDecember 8, 2015 at 8:01 am #48500Probably not helpful in this thread, but there are brands of printers and all in ones which have worked and had driver support from Windows XP through Windows 10.
One brand with such great support (even supports Linux from the manufacturer’s download site!) is Epson. My CX-3810 was working up through Windows 8.1 and has drivers for Windows 10. That’s an old model to be sure.
I only got rid of the CX-3810 when my nephew decided he almost never prints anymore (millennials!) and he donated his wireless XP-410 (also an Epson all in one) to my use. That one has full Windows 10 and Linux support.
I only post these things because there are companies who do support their printers nearly forever. We should shout out the good ones, not just call out the bad companies.

AskWoody_MVPDecember 9, 2015 at 10:15 am #48501It looks like the Canon MP470 printer was first manufactured/released in July 2007, according to this CNET.com page:
http://www.cnet.com/products/canon-pixma-mp470-multifunction-printer-color-mp470au/specs/So the MP470 and similar models like MP472 & MP476 sold in different regions are almost a decade old and will never have Win10 specific drivers.

AskWoody_MVPDecember 9, 2015 at 10:22 am #48502Indeed, some manufacturers like Epson (even Hewlett-Packard and Lexmark) seem to have better printer driver support and have specific pages on what printers/scanners will work under Windows 10.
Here’s the link to Epson’s Windows 10 support page:
