I have a report that I run and then choose “Anaylze it with MS Excel” to have it export the data to a spreadsheet where I can reformat it to a nicer layout.

Suddenly, this function has stopped working for me. When I click the export toolbar function, I get a dialog box flash on screeen and then disapear, but there is no spreadsheet produced. SImilar thing happens I try the export to Word function. I think what is happening is that whatever controls the export function is not finding any records (although it dsplays and prints fine).

I’ve re-installed, tried different stations, I’ve tried Office 2003 , different reports, queries, tables and even completely new databases. Nothing seems to help.

I’m at a bit of a loss here, and I would apreciate any suggestions.

Do you have Office 2003 beta on the same machine? If so, installing that may have stripped the gears on your Office 2000 installation.

I’m seeing this poblem on all machines. (we install from an administrative install point on the network).

That may be the problem. Does the administrative install actually install the wizards? If so, is it possible that the location they used in on a network drive that isn’t always available?

            Charlotte,

I’ve made sure that all the wizards are installed (and re-installed) , and besides the problem is still evident in local installations of Office sp3. It seems like no matter how many variables I change, this function (which used to work consistently), just doesn’t work.

One thing that might be worth a check is that in Excell as not been set to “Ignore other aplications” in options on the General tab.

No, that’s not it. Besides, it occurs when I try to export to Word as well. I’m going to apply SP3 to the admin install, and update my workstation install and see if that helps.

Of course, my assistant already installed a local SP3 version of office, and he still gets the same problem .

              bummer disappointed

              Thanks, though.

If you have this on two different machines from two different installations, it sounds like a different problem. You never mentioned what operating system you’re running. I know I ran into weird problems with A2k on Windows NT with SP4 or lower.

Did you try to use the feature in another application yet and didn’t it work there either?
Just to be sure it’s no file corruption issue (or whatever other ‘thing’ which struck your application).

Turns out that upgrading the administrative install to SP3, and then upgrading my workstation to Office sP3 solved the problem. Turned out to be another “Microsoft Mysterious Mangled File Issue.” No fix, just keep reinstalling closer to the metal until sutff starts to work again.

What a way to run a rodeo.

        Thanks everyone for your help
