A while back I tried to download 5 different torrents. There was a error in them and I could never get them to work. The files associated with them were downloaded into my Download folder. I was never able to delete or move these 5 zero bite files but they displayed there. Yesterday I reinstalled Windows and now the files are in my Windows Old folder and they still can not be moved or deleted. I tried giving myself Permissions of this folder and tried Move-On-Boot (to delete at boot) but I am unable to get rid of them at all.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to delete these 5 entries/files?

      Jim.

Try booting into SAFE MODE and deleting from there.

Eventually, once you have moved all the stuff you really want to move, the windows.old folder can be deleted because it consumes a huge amount of disk space. I’m wondering if , when you delete this folder if the offensive files will also go bye bye.

A free utility that you can try is Unlocker, this utility can help remove files where access has been denied.

I have tried safe mode and no luck. I also have deleted everything from the folder Windows Old except those entries and the folder cannot be deleted.
TonyE…… I have downloaded a Unlocker program and it says the Folder is not locked. Also that the entries do not exist/are not there but something is not letting me get rid of them or the folder they reside inside.

Can you right click and send them anywhere?????????

What anti-spyware and anti-virus and Firewall are you running? Are you able to do a System Restore??? Zero byte files are not taking up any real estate. Checking with another friend about this.

Unlocker usually works for me but since you tried it, here’s a bunch of other file deletion programs you could try.
There’s a number of them, so you might have to work your way down, trying each one.

Here is a screenshot of the error when I try to unlock one of the files.

      Hey Jude,
I am unable to move the file. Anywhere!
I am using Vipre 4 Premium for AV, AS and Firewall. I have not tried System Restore as this install of Win 7 is only about 30 hours old and see no reason to do one as the file would still be there as it was created during the install. I do think I would be able to do one if needed.

Once this is finally solved, you may want to considered staying away from these type sites. They are notorious for including malware, spyware, virus, and anything else you can think of that’s bad for you PC.
