I connect to my wife’s laptop from my desktop via homegroup. I can open a document, make changes, but cannot save it as it says the file is “read only”.

So I went to her laptop, changed read only to read/write. Shows it is working to do it, and the read only box is then clear. However if I then come out of File Explorer, reopen it, the folder reverts to “read only”

I have seen posts about this problem from many people. Most have gone back to Windows 7 or 8 in frustration. Is this a Win 10 bug??

There must be some advanced way of fixing this. I do need to alter her files and re save them to her laptop from my desktop every day. Had no such problem before upgrading to 10 from 8.1

    Help would be much appreciated!!

      Do you have administrator privileges?

Is it a problem with Homegroup? I’ve just tried editing a file on my wife’s Win 7 laptop with no issues, but I don’t use homegroup (too many negatives about it).

Eliminate spare time: start programming PowerShell
