    the below code is meant to advance to the next record if the current record does not have date data that corresponds to today

      Why are you trying to do this? Just put a filter on the report to exclude any but the dates you want.

      The correct way is:

      NextRecord = True
      PrintSection = False
      MoveLayout = False
