Years ago citizens from Canadian Forces Base Trenton all the way to Toronto, Ontario started to spontaneously line the highway to honour a fallen Soldier on their final trip home. (When they are returned from overseas they arrive at CFB Trenton and then go to the Coroner’s Office before being released to the family.) Living in Trenton, Ontario I have seen far too many of these Repatriation Ceremonies but I recently came across this Power Point showing the journey from the view of a family member of the soldier travelling in the procession and seeing the crowds of people who line the overpasses of the highway.
We just repatriated four more soldiers this week from Afghanistan and I thought I it would be nice to share this with everyone.
(The download does take a minute or two.)
