Thanks. I am having fun with this.

Well, it took me like for hours, but I got out. I had to look up how pianos work because I’ve never really been interested in them too much, and had no Idea how the keys are laid out in english…

I have the suitcase open (but not the box inside), the wall plug and the safe. I just can’t figure out what to do with the multi-coloured die and the tone generator. Does anyone have any hints?

    • #1195865

I think I have reached the same place as the above poster. There is a wire under a floorboard, which I can expose but do nothing with. I have a funny feeling I have to tune it like a guitar string to the right frequency with the tone generator, but I know nothing about music. So I’m stuck. That forum by the way that is supposed to give tips appears to be a red herring. Its a football forum, no mention of puzzles.

I have hints if you want but I don’t want to be a spoiler here. Do you realize that you highlight each of the clues you have found and if you click the i within the circle you can change the function of the swiss army knife for example? Did you get the 3rd battery out from the wall socket?

Yes , I’ve done all of that, you need that knowlege to get in the safe, thanks. I’ve used the Gold bar correctly, I think – which brings me back to that thing under the floorboard which at the moment doesn’t respond to any tool that I have. Somebody above mentioned piano keys ?? and this tone generator is still a mystery, as is the multi coloured die, which changes when clicked as you describe.

piano keys are shown by hovering the black light over the 7 buttons to get in the I think left panel. CDEFGAB and you find the code on the briefcase card so remember which letters have which color and make the buttons to match in that corresponding order. Oh, you use the numbers on the die to correspond to the numbers on the panel on the right safe. The “tone generator” haha is the radio. You have to adjust each of the slides to be at the highest pitch and once all 5 pitches are “high” you click that > on the right and the radio opens. Then inside is a magnet that you want which you will pry with that knife….does this help? When I first did it, I didn’t realize that “the thing under the floorboard” is the black light which seems to automatically get added to your little stash of “clues.” I fiddled with that for quite awhile–going on to something else until I realized the black light was already in my stash.

Thanks for your help, Hey Jude. I’ve now found the magnet and a sheet of paper with 8 cryptic clues on it, four of them scrubbed out with felt tip pen. I think I understand the instructions in the radio on how to use the magnet, but I haven’t worked out which ‘hole’ its suggests I stick it in, LOL ! I Still haven’t acquired the black light despite trying with the spanner/magnet combination and other tools to fish it out. Hence I havent found the piano keys. I asume the briefcase card is the one in the lid bearing only 4 letters, each one associated with a colour ? How that helps with the sequence you wrote, which has 8 different letters escapes me, at the moment as does the die which bears no numbers (am I missing something ?) but 6 colours. Not having got into the box inside the briefcase, I may be missing a major clue which would have made sense of the above ?

Look in your stash to see if you have what looks like a black light. You will hold the black light up to the left panel I think over those 7 buttons–which then will show you that the 7 buttons are really laid out like piano keys. Let me think, to get the magnet onto the ratchet you have to enlarge the ratchet first and then you drag the magnet up to it and it will hook onto the end–not the nut end, but the solid end. Then when you have that done you are ready to take the bolts out of the chair. The chair has to be moved out of the way so you can stick the magnet end of the ratchet into the holes left by the 4 bolts. In those holes you will find 4 batteries which will go into the black light. Enlarge the black light and then click each of the batteries one at a time and you will then have power in the light. Remember when you opened the floor board and saw that string? you were to cut the string with the knife and then the black light should have just made it to your stash. Other than that I didn’t do anything to get it out of the hole.

Ok in reference to the card in the briefcase that has 4 letters on it–notice each color for each letter. This has to do with opening that panel with the 7 buttons. You remember which letters you have and what colors and then when you hold up the black light to the buttons, you see that the far left one is C, D, E, F, G, A, B. So you will click the buttons to make the colors match the colors on your card. Since you only have 4 letters and there are 7 buttons, then you just leave the ones without colors plain. You don’t make them a color in order to come up with the right sequence. Hope this makes sense. I started going thru it again yesterday and then got distracted.

The die has colors–and when you hold the black light up to it you’ll see that the colors match numbers and this is used to access the RIGHT panel–trying to remember. It’s the panel that has the 9 buttons that are not a telephone pad or a number pad with one large button at the bottom. At first I thought it was a telephone pad, but it turns out it’s more like the pips on the die. When you get the right sequence the panel will automatically open.

Hope this is enough to get you going.

I just redid getting the black light. You use the gold bar to prop on the floor board, then you use the swiss army knife to cut the string that is holding the board down–you see this as you hold the knife blade on the front part of the space–just a tiny line and you put the mouse there and you’ll hear a snip. Then you can toss the board off and get the black light. Had to redo it to remember.

        Hey Jude

    • #1196235

Thanks for your helpful tips. The funny thing is I tried earlier to snip the wire with the knife and it didn’t work. Then I misunderstood when I thought you said it wasn’t a wire – it was a black light and that it just jumped into your kit without you noticing. This led me off at a tangent trying to use the magnet to get the “black light (which was really a string). Anyway is all good fun.
I had already removed the bolts and moved the chair (seems like days ago now) so your latest posts started to make sense, and I snipped the wire first time this time. So, I’ve got the black light working and seen the piano keys which meant absolutely nothing to me, but having looked on the internet I can see your logic as to what they mean, in fact i’ve cracked that one and got a key. I’ve found the numbers on the die now so I’ve got that number/colour code and cracked that, so I have a second key, but I need a third one. I’ve picked up, using the UV light all sorts of hidden equations to go with the cryptic stuff on the piece of paper and was dissappointed that the uv light didnt reveaL the scrubbed out notes 5,6,7,8 on the paper – unless the ones revealed elsewhere replace them. I’ve unlocked 2 of the 3 locks on the box in the briefcase and I’m trying to figure out what next……………..

      Hi, Hey jude

I know about the Good luck message and the hidden link between the letters, L to K, G to D, first O to C second O to U . I have found the hidden keypad holding the last key. I also have CK=c2, OD=c2, LU=a1, GO= c3 and a table with 1. b4, 2. b1, 3. d3, 4. a3 and 5,6,7,8 blanked out. I watched a walkthrough on Youtube which supposedly explained what to do with all this stuff but it did not make one Iota of sense (no dialog ) and the number/letter sequence generated bore no relationship to the buttons pressed.
If you can explain clearly the logic , I would appreciate it. Thanks

Ok. Consider that the 16 button keypad is like a grid. The top is from L>R A,B,C,D going DOWNWARD is 4,3,2,1 soooo you enter your b4, b1 etc. that way until you have all 8 buttons and that will open the safe and you’ll get the remaining key to open the lockbox.

My daughter and I just ran thru this again and each time we do it in a different order but it works

      Help.

I can’t locate where the loose floorboard is.
      I haven’t found a gold bar.
I’ve only got one key for the strongbox.
And I’ve no idea how to open the right hand panel.

I do have four batteries, a bushel of stuff that’s already served its purpose and a foreboding sense that I’ve still got a long way to go.

The loose floorboard is over in the corner I think to the right of the briefcase and chair. You click it and then it pops up, then you get the gold bar and place it on the end closest to the corner. Then you get the knife and where the opening is, you will find a piece of string (I had to really lighten up my display screen in order to see this) and you cut it with the knife, which then releases it. You click the gold bar again and then the board and the board pops off. The black light is in there.

The right panel you open by holding the mouse on the button until it opens. The little note says 10 seconds or 10″ and the first few times I kept counting and then just held it down and it popped open.

        Hey Jude

P.S. Don’t look at the solution. it is more fun and hair-pulling figuring it out. I spent the MOST time on that radio getting the frequencies to all go to the highest pitch.

    • #1196393

OK, time for the solution for all of you still struggling & want to know…..

Look behind the briefcase for a key.

Turn left and open the left panel. Collect the test tube.

Turn left and look under the lawn chair from the left for a note on how to open the right panel.

Look at the chair from the other side to find a battery.

Turn left and look at the picture. Look at the bottom left corner for a battery and a place to put the key.

Open the picture and collect the key.

Use the new key to open the briefcase, by clicking on the latches with the key.

Collect the folder, the swiss army knife, the laser pointer, and the cube.

Use the corkscrew on the swiss army knife to open the tube with the note, this code will be used soon.

Zoom in on the outlet on the wall with the panels.

Use the knife to pry off the cover, and the screwdriver on the swiss army knife unscrew the outlet.

      Collect the third battery.

Put the three batteries into the laser pointer.

The laser pointer will give you the code for the safe, XX being the number that was on the paper in the tube.

The safe will open automatically once you get the code right. If it doesn’t work one direction try the other. You do not have to pass 0 every time like on traditional locks.

Get the ratchet and the radio.

Move the switches on the radio until it only players the higher tone. Each switch is one beep.

Collect the note, and use the swiss army knife to pry off the magnet from the speaker.

Use the ratchet to unscrew the bolts from the chair.

Put the magnet on the bottom of the ratchet, then stich the ratchet in each of the holes left from the chair, you should get 4 batteries.

Now it’s time to open up the right panel. As per the directions on the note from under the chair, just hold the button for 10 seconds.

      Collect the gold bar.

Face the safe, in the bottom left corner there is a loose panel. Place the gold bar on it and then cut the string that you see using the knife.

Pick up the gold bar, remove the panel, and get the black light.

Place the 4 batteries into the black light.

Now that we’ve got all the tools we need it’s time to work on getting the keys for the lockbox in the briefcase. Start with the left panel.

You’ll see 7 buttons that change color when pressed. If you use the blacklight on them you will notice it looks like a piano.

Look at the briefcase, you’ll see a logo with four letters all with a color. These corrospond to the piano keys.

From left to right the order of the keys is C D E F G A B. Match the colors with the letters it gave you on the panel and it should give you the key.

Next lets work on the right panel. You’ll see a keypad with 9 buttons and one larger button.

To start press the button and write down the order of the colors on the lights above the keys.

This is the order in which you will enter the codes. To find the code use the blacklight on the colored cube in your inventory.

Match the pattern of the die on the panel, for each color. After you enter all six it should give you the key.

Now the third panel is a bit more work. To locate it face the wall with the briefcase and use your black light.

All you need to do here is push the right eight buttons. You already have the first four, on the note you got from inside the radio.

Across the top of the pad are letters, A,B,C,D. And the numbers go down the side, 4,3,2,1. So the top left button is A4, and the bottom right button is D1.

You’ll need a notepad for this part. There are 4 codes hidden around the room that you need the blacklight for. One is in the outlet, one is in the safe, one is in the floor where you got the black light, and the other is on the gold bar in your inventory. Write the four codes down. You should organize them in this order, GO, OD, LU, CK.

Open up the envelope you got from the briefcase. GOOD LUCK. Look familiar? Use the black light on the GOOD LUCK, and you will see the letters are connected.

The G is connected to the D, the first O to the C, the second O to the U, and L and K are connected to each other. Using the codes you wrote down from around the room you will need to mix and match. The codes you wrote down all have 2 letters = a letter and a number. For example, GO=A4. In this case G=A and O=4. OD=C4, O=C and D=4. Since G and D are connected it would make A4. Using this formula mix and match the codes until instead of GO, OD, LU, CK, you have GD, OC, OU, LK.

The new codes you just made are the missing four codes from the note in the radio.

Once you put in the code the key will be given to you.

Use all three keys in the lockbox inside the briefcase.

      Get the door handle.

Use the door handle on the door.

      Leave!

I’m having trouble getting the second key.

I have the colour code blue, magenta, cyan, green, red, yellow correlating to 152346.

I’ve tried entering this viewing the pad as both a telephone number pad and a calculator pad, pressing the broad key after each digit.

      Neither works for me.

SO now you’re ready for the 3rd and final key? Did you read that paper that has 4 code numbers on it? You’ll need those. Then scroll back to my response about the 16 squares. In that file folder you got is a paper that says, “Good Luck” If you hold up the black light to it you’ll see that it shows how the GOOD LUCK letters are connected. SO you have to figure out the code. Around the room you will find 4 more codes –one on the gold bar, one behind the wall socket, one under the floor board and the other in the safe that you will highlight with the black light. Write them down and see how they fit into the grid.

        Hey Jude

Then you are just about OUT~!~!~!

You’re certainly welcome. My hubby, daughter and I all fooled with it and were baffled and intrigued and frustrated to the point that we were GOING to solve it no matter what!! It took alot of picking up of those tools and trying them on various things to figure out what was going on. I have no clue which order you are supposed to follow, but I think the bottom line is as long as you find the essential tools–knowing that gold bar held that floor board up was astounding–came thru just putting stuff on it to see how to keep it open. It also wasn’t until we enhanced the actual display lightness that we were able to clarify the colors on that card in the briefcase. Our “D” kept showing brown, but that wasn’t an option. The “E” just looked like a white “E” so we deduced it was dark blue. It was fun and once we figured it all out, going back thru wasn’t as difficult. The worst thing for me is the radio frequency. I got 4 of them high pitched, and then discovered it was the FIRST slider that controlled the 5th one so that was neat. I see there is another Museum game that a friend gave me. Maybe I’ll post that in another thread. As far as the A1 B2 C3 etc. it just was logical that that last safe was set up in a grid format so it was figuring out the other 4–which as you know needed the black light on the GOOD LUCK file to see how they were connected. Fun stuff tho~!~!

        Thanks

        Hey Jude

Can someone give clear instructions for opening up the tone generator / radio?
How should the switches be set?

    • #1206267

You have to adjust the sliders so that they all give the same identical highest pitched tone. Note that the figures printed on the sliders mean nothing and bear no relation to what you hear. You have to do it based on what you hear alone. Start with the one on the left and listen to the sequence generated, concentrating on the first note you hear. Then move the left slider again and listen again. Did the first note sound higher ? When by trial and error you’ve set the first slider, do the second one, again listening to the tones. Are the first two tones the same ? If so you can move on, and so on along to the right until they all sound the same. That should be enough to open up the lid to reveal the radio.

I really enjoyed this style of puzzle – and with a few gleaned tips, was able to complete.

Anyone know of any similar picture / point type puzzles ?

    • #1210017

      Short answer is no!!

Does anyone else have a problem with getting into the safe? I have scoured the room and found loads of stuff really quickly but can’t get any further. From reading above it looks like I am stuck until I can get into the safe.

I have tried every which way to get in to the safe but cannot get it to open sesame. Yes I have found the code on the little bit of paper. I have tried turning the dial to the left, I have tried going right, I have used the numbers right to left, I have even tried them left to right, I have tried returning to 0 each time, I have tried doing it slowly, I have tried doing it fast, I’ve tried turning using the knob in the centre, the number dial on the outside and the depressons on the bottom edge of the rim. I’ve tried every tool, I’ve tried opening the torch between each number and the paper at the XXs. I have deleted my browser cache and browsing history but all to no avail – it just will not let me in there.

Any better ideas – or is it just time I gave up?

I did wonder if it was my laptop being decrepit but, if that was the case, how come everything else I have come across works fine.

You need 4 positional ‘settings’ – the number on the paper merely replaces an XX in the full combination. Do you have the full combo yet ? Also, I’m not sure it helps, but after screwing up a setting, I tried setting the wheel to zero, coming away from the safe back into the room and then reselecting the safe before trying new combinations. By the way, the combination is different for each new game.

Hope this helps rather than confuse – without giving too much away.

Cheers but I have been there, done that, all to no avail. I have found and revealed the combination, substituted the XX, tried resetting it by starting a new game but the safe still will not open. Is there an additional button to press or turn? As far as I am aware I have worked out everything there is to do up to this point but I cannot get any further in the game until I crack the safe and get at the contents therein. Most frustrating.

Do not give up!!! It isn’t necessary to go past or back to 0 every time. I spent considerable time on several different parts of this puzzle and when I got frustrated I just walked away for awhile and came back. I started over so many times it became easier each time. Achieving the open door was a huge relief. I guess I’ll have to go back through it to see what else could help.

            Hey Jude

P.S. I just got back as far as opening the safe and you have to put your cursor either to the R or L of the 0 and my combination was 7 R 22L 11R 47L so I put the cursor on the R of the dial and went around until I came to 7 then I put the cursor on the L of the dial and went till I got to 22 and so on and as soon as I got to 47 the safe opened. HTH If you restart the game then the code changes.

            door opened yeeeehaaaa!!!

Check the forum link under/over the puzzle. You’ll have to register but there’s a forum with lots of good, gradual help. Search for โ€œchallenge.โ€

      Also, there’s a sequel: http://whatsyourview.net/challenge2/
It has a help forum over there, too.

Did somebody take that piece of paper from the left side of the chair and not put it back? Its not there.

Found it, Please put things back after you have read them

      W’hey I did it!

Thank you for the help I received in cracking the safe although, in the end, it was a comment from a friend that made it click (excuse the pun) home. I had been counting clicks as I turned the dial but that turned out not to be the way to do it. For anyone else struggling try the following. My number was 27R31LXX(13)R23L. So starting on the right I turned the dial until it reached all the way round to the 27th mark on the dial then returning back the way I came past 0 until it got to the 31st marker on the dial, back again past 0 and all the way round to 13 then reversed back past 0 to 23.

Hope that that makes sense because it doesn’t seem to match what other people have said but maybe the game sets more than one way of cracking the safe.

Congratulations!!! I just did it like our gym locker combinations. Your individual numbers were key to opening it. Glad it worked!! On to the next steps!! Now that you have the radio and wrench you have to get those tones

I am trying to get the 3rd key. I have followed the instructions in the walkthrough exactly. I have tried every permutation of the last 4 coordinates. I have tried letters on top, numbers on left, and also numbers on top, letters on left. I even went so far as to start the whole puzzle over, which gave me all new clues. None of this made any difference. The little door over the key steadfastly refuses to open.

Has anyone else had a problem with this?

I have already spent way too much time on this, so I guess I’ll have to quit, much as it pains me to admit defeat.

Thanks for posting this puzzle; it was fun as long as I was making progress,

Hmmm. I must be doing something wrong.

When I find an object and click on it, it disappears, never to be seen again. Other posters talk of seeing their inventory and using objects, but I can’t figure out how to do that. I’ve pressed every key on the keyboard and still cannot find an object, much less use it.

For instance, I get the key and go to the picture, but nothing I have tried will use the key on the lock.

      Help.

Ok. I had the same issue using FF and playing this game. I found a couple of my add-ons prevented the objects from remaining at the bottom of the screen in that shadowed bar area. Once I isolated the offending add-on and disabled them, then the objects stayed put until I picked them up etc. When you open the initial screen of the game and see New game or Continue you see that shaded bar right? But when you click on either of those choices the bar goes away???? If so, then check your add-ons. I tried uninstalling Java and Adobe Flash and all sorts of other fixes until process of elimination pointed to the add-ons.

The first thing you do is you see the briefcase. Click on it and again and click behind it and you will find a key. Click on it and it will go to your stash. Then you go to the chair and click behind it on the right side and there is a battery on the wall near it. On the other side of the chair up underneath it is a piece of paper you want. SO this should get you started.

          Hey Jude,

Thanks. I tried disabling add-ins in Windows Explorer but didn’t get the gray box. I switched to Chrome and got it. Thanks Microsoft. I love your browser, NOT.

I used Chrome as well and stuck with it until I figured out what was wrong with FF. Glad you got it done. I didn’t have any problems with IE, but FF is my default so wanted to rectify the situation

I just can’t figure out key 2. How do I get a color code from the die when I can only see 3 sides? Am I missing something?? I got the numbers off the 3 sides I can see.

      2 things:

I love suduko, but these puzzles (which remind me of Pajama sam and Myst) are totally open ended and I just get on the web to see how it all goes together. Is there a way to describe that type of mindset – working within a set of rules (suduko) is great, but click on this, grab that ’cause you might need it later, etc. just frustrates the hell out of me ?

and keeping that in mind, I got the steps to solve this from the 1st page of this thread. Thanks! But… how do you look behind the briefcase for the key!? I click on it, click and drag, etc. click above it to look down on it, etc. and can’t get it to do anything.

      thank you!

How do you open the Swiss Army knife? I have it, but I can’t get the corkscrew out or get it to interact with any other object.

Just click the X in the circle on the bottom right of the knife icon at the bottom of the screen. That opens it in a window where you can click on it to change the blades.

I have tried this but first, the circle has an i in it. Even when the window comes up, I cannot interact with the knife. I was able to open the paper, but the knife doesn’t seem to work. AAGGHH!!

I kept trying to do this while I was still in a close-up on the briefcase. You have to back away from the briefcase and then click on the “i” and the knife will change blades.

One more clue for you. You have the knife. So click the little i and it will put it up for view; then you click on the knife and it will change forms from knife, to screwdriver to can opener to corkscrew etc. You will need the corkscrew to open the test tube to get the number from the paper. You will need the knife to pop off the wall plate, and then the screw driver to undo the screws so you can find the 3rd battery for the laser pointer……again….get a rhythm down using the tools. Clicking the i puts them up and then you manipulate them, close the x and then when you need it again you just drag it with you. you always have to put it back tho before you can do something else. Once you get a routine it becomes easier.

OK, this is really basic—how do I read the note? I’ve got it, but it’s all folded up and I can’t read it. And where is the battery? I’ve looked at the chair, but don’t see a battery. Help!!!

    • #1212152

If I remember right the battery is up inside the leg of the chair. Its dark so look carefully. I think it was on the right side of the chair. To read the note just click the X at the lower right of it in your items. This will open it up and then you can click on the actual note to open it and read it. I’m still stuck trying to open the 2nd key up. Translating the die to a 9 key pad is something I just cant seem to figure out. HELP!!! LOL

I found the battery on the right side of the chair. Not on the chair but sitting in the corner of the molding next to the chair. Hope this helps

        Another problem solved?
Lost my inventory when I selected ‘continue’ on a restart. I’m using IE and changed to Virtual XP. Now my inventory has returned! Will try Chrome with Windows 7 and see what happens.

Did you get the 2nd key from the all hanging???? There is a battery at the bottom and when you click that there is another key which will open the briefcase…..So what inventory so you have so far???

I have the wrench and the magnet. I have placed the magnet on the end of the wrench. I can’t get the four batteries, though I’ve clicked on everything and at every magnification I can get. Any idea where I click?

Never mind. I figured out how to move the chair — duh!

Hum, I was having a real hard time to get anywhere…I found lost of stuff here and there, but didn’t know what to do. I read the messages here trying not to read to many clues…I read “inventory” several times…but where is my inventory???
Well, today I tried again…at first I had no inventory. I tried pressing lots of keys, just in case, but it seemed quite weird. So I just closed and reopened the page, and MAGIC, now I do have an inventory!
      Grrr, schupid buggy program ^^

Yes, sometimes it is just like that. Then you close and re-open and you have them all again. Inventory gets to be quite extensive so look at them all, pick them up and click the little “i”so you can try to change things about them if possible so you have an idea of how you will use them to your benefit later on…..it’s alot of fun and aggravating at the same time.

      Stuck with the right panel…
I see the 6 lights at the top with different colors, I can correlate each color with a number from 1 to 6 thanks to 2 items I have. Then I press a key and then the big key under, then same with the 5 others but nothing happens…I guess I’m missing something…?

    • #1212244

      Found a 3rd panel but can’t open it…

      I have a paper with b2 d3 b3 b4, the other 4 are not readable.
I found LU=d2, OD=c4, CK=d2 and go=a4 (yes I did use the UV on each and every part of the room and item from my inventory).
UV on my GOOD LUCK note I see I should mix things up, but then I end up with a2, c2, and twice d4…

Each time I played they were different, but generally start with the far right lever and move it one space at a time. Click the play button and you will hear different tones. The first tone will sound different when you get this one in the correct position. Work yourself back to the left and use the same process and click the open button.
