I have a “bright” idea – Can I just copy a newer build of MSJET40.DLL and MSJETOLEDB40.DLL over an older build of the two files? I has done that with DAO360.DLL without any visible adverse effect on my database application.

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |

What’s the purpose of copying them instead of just applying the latest Jet 4 service pack or update? The latter will insure that the necessary versions stay in sync.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 10, 2002 at 5:44 am #630555Well, Charlotte, my “bright” idea came about because of Microsoft’s updating sequence. If I have a Microsoft Jet 4.0 earlier than SP3, then I have to download the updates twice, one for SP3, and one for SP6. Copying the updated files over is much simpler if I have more than one desktop to update:)
