• Can this computer talk?

    I just installed Encarta Delux (7 CDs) on my Compaq Armada notebook. This is a great source of info! And it has a speech engine installed in Windows. Can I coax this unit to read my text files to me now? What do I have to do for that? Russ

      It should do as the Armadas I’ve had at this site all had speakers and sound cards.

      What model Armada?

      Does it have in-built Speakers?

        Yes, it has speakers and a sound card. The sound is great with the Encarta program, and with MusicMatch (mp3). What I’m wondering about is making this speech software read aloud my text files, like the Bible text files I have in another program. I suspect it wouldn

          Sorry, misread your post! Had a whole day of that yesterday.

          I only have second-hand experience, but I understand there are a number of products which will read back Excel and Word files. Not sure about straight text.

          Have you tried some of the sites that do comparisons, ">Buyers Guide come to mind?
