I have been asked to produce an workbook of reports. The managers want it in Excel even though I program in Access.
An Access database will generate 6 tables for the data.
The tables contain historical data for 51 different models of machines.
The Excel workbook will have 1 worksheet for each model.
Each worksheet will 5 graphs and a table based on the Access data.
The graphs show historical data(12 columns with each column being 3 months worth of data)
I’ve played with MS Query and can generate the table from the Access data and use a cell value for the parameter in the query to get data for the correct model shown.
    Graph Questions:
    1. Can Graphs be built directly from MS Query? I didn’t see any way to do this.
    2. If so, can blank graphs be placed on the sheets and MS Query be used with parameters to populate without
having to create all 51 pages manually.
    3. Should I try harder to convince them to use Access.
    Thanks,
    Scott

      1. Not as far as I know. But a pivot table can be based directly on Access data without importing the data into Excel. So if your charts can be based on a pivot table, you might be able to simplify things. Can’t really tell, since the charts in the workbook you attached are based on data in another workbook.
      2. See 1.
      3. Yes. You could probably create one report in Access to cover all 51 models.

        Hans,
        Thanks for the reply.
I was hoping that was the case.
I’ll start working on MS Accessing the managers.

Thanks for all your contributions to the board. It makes a lot of our lives less stressfull.
