I’m not sure if this is what you mean …. but …. you can move the menu bars to the left side of the screen by clicking on a vacant section of the menu, holding the left mouse button down and then dragging the menu to the left.

The menu bar will then lock itself to the left side of the screen in a vertical direction .. a bit like a web page menu.

maybe thats the solution..could u show me how to do that..
        please.thanks

        • #1780004

On the left end of the button bar there will be 2 upright gray lines. Move the mouse so that the cursor is on these lines.

Then hold the left mouse button down.

Then drag the button bar down and to the left while still holding the left mouse button down.

The menu bar will then lock itself to the left side of the screen in a vertical direction.

Let me know how you go.

I think John may have gone off line. (This has been done with Excle 2K but should apply)

1] Move the cursor to the left hand end of the toolbar you want to move – it turns into a 4 pointed cursor.

2] Left click and hold and drag the toolbar away from its current position.

3] Move it towards the left side and it will switch to a vertical layout and ‘dock’ into position.

Is that what you are trying to achieve ?

If I interpret what you want correctly, what is required is a method of selecting worksheets by way of a menu on the left side of the screen, instead of the usual method of using the sheet tabs.

I am attaching a workbook to show what I mean. I used two windows on the same workbook, one on the left with clickable navigation buttons. The window on the right is just a normal view on the selected worksheet. What the best implementation of your requirements is would depend on the nature of the sheet you are working with. The attached is just to give you an idea.

i think u stilll not u/stand what i’m trying to do..
what i meant is..let say i have 10 macros represent
by 10 command buttons..i want it to be displayed by frames.
if u surfing to webpages..u will understand what i meant
by frames..user will click the command buttons on the left,
and the pages that they required will appereared in the right corner while the command buttons will stay at the left
corner..they will always can see the command buttons..the pages that the user desired will always displayed in the right corners..thanks..hope u can u/stand my questions and will help me..regards

The only thing I can come up with is to create a custom toolbar, move it to the left margin and assign the macros to it:

Right mouse on toolbar – customize.
Select Toolbars/New (Call it what you like)
Commands: Under Categories select Macros, drag Custom button onto new toolbar
Repeat until you have enough buttons.
              Close

              Button #1
Add the following as a macro to the sheet:
              Sub Sel2()
              Worksheets(2).Select
              End Sub

Right mouse on toolbars again – Customise
Right mouse on first macro button on your new toolbar
Name: Change to ‘Sheet 2’ and select ‘Text Only (always)
              Assign macro: select Sel2

              etc.

Unfortunately, all text in the toolbar buttons is vertical…

I am attaching an amended version of the previous file I uploaded as I think it may not have displayed as I intended. I think you will find it does much of what you want (at least what I think you want).

thanks andrew and all..your file is the most close like
i want..but the problem is when i click the sheet that
            i desired..the frame will dissapear..could u modify it
so when we click the button..the menu at the left side will remain and can be seen all the time..is it possible..thanks

ps : so the display will look like 2 parts..part 1 is menu at the left side..while part 2 is the page that we select at the right side..thanks

            • #1780034

              Works OK here.
Are you downloading it and running it, or running from your browser?

            • #1780039

I am attaching another worksheet which should display as you require, but may have some problems as neither window can be resized. However it gives you an idea of what can be done. It seems I have to attach as a Zip file, hope you can unzip it.

Will the application you are developing be used on one or machines and will it run under different screen resolutions. It would be nice if it could handle all those scenarios, but that might require some heavy duty coding in VBA.

Hope it meets with your requirements, and if so maybe we can improve on it.

              Andrew.

              hehe..thanks andrew..u r getting closer…but could u please

              thing b4 i forget..could u adjust your left frame , i meant

              Azri,

I am attaching another copy of the workbook. I have changed the buttons from command buttons to Form buttons. The sheet is protected so you will have to unprotect the menu sheet before you can add more buttons or do anything more with it. To add sheets you will have to unprotect the Workbook.

If you make any changes you should save and close the workbook.

              Bye

              Andrew

            • #1780334

thanks a zillion andrew..u works are terrific..it works
like i dream..but..i’m curious..how can i format the sheet background..i meant for the both frames..is is involving
              vb again..or just manuallly..like..format..sheet..background..
coz i try it..but its not working..coz i want the background
for my sheets like web pages..remember.lol..any ideas andrew?
              thanks and thanks again

            • #1780338

              What does the above mean?

No it is not involving to change the background. All you have to is unprotect the sheets, and go to Format, Sheet and select Background.

You can select an appropriate image (jpg, gif etc) and apply it.

I hope you give us a view of this browser when you have it complete.

              Regards,

              Andrew
