Calendar shows busy, but nothing there (OLK2000 SP1)

I have a user who’s calendar shows up BLANK for a certain day. But then I try to add an appointment, it says it is busy. Its lets me add things, but I cannot find out why it is busy for that time since there was nothing there before I tried to add.

Any clues?

Are there any strange settings under Calendar Properties | Permissions (such as default cannot do anything)? What is the exact text of the messages you get?
