Brighten Netbook Display screen

I am helping a friend with a HP MINI Netbook 311 – he wants to “brighten” the display screen. What keys do you use to increase and/or decrease the brightness of the display screen? The F3 looks like it would decrease the brightness and the F4 key looks like it will increase the brightness. But what other key needs to be used simultaneously? Thanks for your help.

I just figured it out – hold the FN key down while pressing either the F3 or F4. Thanks anyhoo!

Hi Trebor,

If your friend’s netbook has the Intel display panel in the Control Panel, he can get better fine tuning control by adjusting the contrast and gamma as well as the brightness setting, and perhaps can save the settings in one or more profiles to suit different needs that will load upon boot.
