I fall into the group that read Brian’s InfoWorld column first, followed by Steve Gibson’s.

Another feature of those columns was that he highlighted useful programs that were available  either free or as shareware. One of the first was Paint Shop, which was developed by Robert Voit as a side hustle; he was a pilot for Northwest Airlines. The reason I know so much about Robert is that I called him up and spoke with him for about an hour about Paint Shop, after which I purchased a license. I still use its successors, having upgraded from time to time, even after Robert sold it to Corel. My current installation is Paint Shop Pro 2020 Ultimate, which I acquired last year to meet my evolving needs for image editing and screen capturing.
