Susan, methinks you don’t realize the extent of your celebrity.  Thank you for sharing your expertise with all the Woodyites (and soon to be Bradleyites).

Woodyites and Bradleyites not only not being mutually exclusive, but the whole being substantially greater than the sum of their parts — to the betterment of all.

From one ‘Susan’ to another, Welcome, Welcome to Woody’s site. In this time of internet and computer turmoil, it will be wonderful to have another expert extraordinaire to help sort the wheat from the chaff, in order to find the truth, whatever that may be.

      Welcome 🙂

Woody: Your site shut down when you posted this announcement, obviously because of the great news that Susan Bradley will be posting here. I’ll bet the amount of traffic on your website was off the chart!

Welcome, Susan, to the new Woody’s Lounge!

Just wanted to confirm what MrJimPhelps said. As Richard Dreyfuss said to Robert Shaw in the movie, Jaws, “I think you’re going to need a bigger boat.” I was so thrilled Monday morning at how much faster the site was loading, but then today it’s either been a case of not being able to get on at all or, once on, waiting for the articles to load. I will try to contribute a small donation, since this is an important website to me, but I’m not in a position to afford a subscription service. That’s why I stopped reading Windows Secrets years ago.

I’m delighted that Susan has joined AskWoody, but I’d just like to give a shout out to all the techs here who volunteer their time and effort to those of us who realized we can no longer depend on Microsoft (or these days, Intel, third-party software vendors, etc.) for help keeping our systems running properly.

Wonderful! Susan, I’ve missed your patch reports since Penton decided to not provide subscribed & non-subscribed versions of Windows Secrets newsletters & I couldn’t continue paying. ‘Patch Lady’ is certainly welcome at AskWoody, & it will be interesting to read your business-centric outlook toward patching. I am on Windows 8.1 & will stay there until end-of-life, but if you can show a more positive way of looking at patching Windows 10, I might finally upgrade. The operative word is Might. Again, welcome to AskWoody!

Bought a refurbished Windows 10 64-bit, currently updated to 22H2. Have broke the AC adapter cord going to the 8.1 machine, but before that, coaxed it into charging. Need to buy new adapter if wish to continue using it.

Susan, thanks for all the advice you have given (and I have followed) over quite a time span. This addition to woody’s site is welcome news to myself & many others.

This really comes at a good time as WS’s has gone dormant (lounge & newsletters).

      Welcome Susan!

Your reputation has preceeded you, and even this non-techy has clicked links to learn more about what you recommended and why… and there have been plenty of quotes or references to what you had to say about this or that, already. First hand info now! Great!

Not agreeing on everything leads to more detailed analysis of the choices available and I’ve learned a lot from those kinds of discussions.

I certainly hope that enthusiasm for your presence here isn’t what crashed the site this morning… there is a great deal of happiness and joy in anticipation of your posts here!

Thank you, Woody, and all the MVPs, for all the work done in the background, as well as the informative and timely posts…

Welcome, Susan! I was a regular reader – and thankful student – of your advice on Windows Secrets for quite a long time. I’m looking forward to your expert contributions here on AskWoody!

Great news, something I know people have been hoping for especially since the current issue with Windows Secrets, I’m absolutely delighted.

All I would ask Susan is that she remembers that there is a very strong Windows 7 contingent here, patching these days is about a lot more than just dealing with the different versions of Windows 10! I hope therefore that her advice will continue to be broadly based as it has traditionally been.

Hey Susan, thanks for all you do to help the MS user community! In my case specifically, thanks for everything you have ever written about SBS 2011!

    • #169319

When Windows Secrets was taken over, “Ask Woody” became my daily go to man for all things to do with computers, MS, updates etc etc. I didn’t think it could get any better. As usual I was wrong.  Now with Woody and Susan let the good times roll.  Best computer news for a long time.

Having read the first contribution now, my first introduction that I wish had come about a year and a half ago, this looks like exactly the advice style that some contributors have requested specifically. Update categories broken apart with advice attached to each item.

Having this information on the same site with the AskWoody guidance seems to be a wonderful combination. Really looking forward to more.

Great news. Susan’s column was the main reason I subscribed to WS and the main item I missed after I jumped ship to AskWoody following Penton’s takeover.

      @Woody
      – given the significant slowdown in site response time in the past 24 hours (following news of Susan coming aboard?) maybe it would be a good time to remind new- (and old)-comers that contributions are welcome and keep this site going?

Brilliant new, welcome Susan. Like many others here I was an avid reader of your patching articles on WS when I was a subscriber.

    • #169543

So many experts and top quality info in one place. AskWoody just got even better, which isn’t easy to do – hope the server can cope!

    • #169618

There goes my subscription to Windows Secrets. Great news and a big welcome to Susan.

      • #169630

So, does this mean that Windows Secrets is officially dead?

      Woody:

You really hit the jackpot by getting Susan Bradley posting here at AskWoody. She has been posting some really great stuff since she joined AskWoody!

I’m so glad Susan is now part of Askwoody!! You help me so much in the past to get Windows 10 figured out on WSUS. I’m grateful for Woody and the Askwoody website! If it wasn’t for this site I would have been waking up to Bricked computers!! Thanks again and welcome Susan!
