Trying to nail the “final, final” version of Win10 1809 is a thankless task. Even if the latest build — number 17763 — has been signed off, and dist

Time to prepare to upgrade then… ๐Ÿ™‚

WindowsUpdateBox.exe is what’s have been used by WU to install/process the upgrade files, whether full ESD since Windows 8.1, or UUP since Windows 10 ver 1709

One of the known issues in 17763 is that Task Manager is not reporting accurate CPU usage. That’s one that I’d hope they’ll fix before release if it is indeed the RTM!

Since they are officially listing this as a known issue, I expect that it will be fixed in a cumulative update.

My paranoid mind wonders why they’ve been messing with Task Manager, and it’s coming up with some scary answers.

@abbodi86 Hmmm Oct 2nd eh? well I guess I was 3 weeks early in my forecast. Perfect timing really, Patch Tuesday (A) release and then fix the major bugs and howlers on Patch Tuesday (B). There’s sure to be a few or is that the sceptic in me?
Maybe a good time in the near future to let the “Merry Band of Seekers” out there not to let their curiosity get the better of them if they don’t want to be treated to a premature upgrade, and the rest, well just be wary. Decision time come December to either stick with 1709, or 1803 or take the leap of faith to 1809. Decisions, decisions, or even hold out to see what 1903 (if there’s such a future version) brings.

by that 10/2 date, there should be pure ISO image files of v1809 available from MS instead of just the ESD files

        • #219677

You can download the ISO directly without using the MS tool by using a different OS (Linux, MacOS). Search Windows 10 ISO from the other OS and it will redirect you to the MS download site with the ISO. Did it from my Mac this morning to packrat 1803 ISO before 1809 comes out.
