I recently purchased this Optiplex 7070 Tower with Win11 installed.  I have downloaded the latest Dell drivers and Bios and all went well. The BIOS is version 1.32.0 and is the latest version. Ever since Fred Langa turned me on to using Imaging as a backup method, I’ve been creating images and quite a few times they have saved my failing computer. The beauty was that once you have a “Repair Disk” or USB, you can boot from it and proceed with the restoration of the image at the time when all was good.

I created the Repair Disk and created the image using the native Windows 7 imaging program that Widows has used for a while and continue to offer it in Win10. My problem is that when I go to choose the Boot sequence the only choices are Windows Boot Manager or UEFI SSD 256GB. No CD/DVD or USB. The Bios is in UEFI mode. Can anyone advise as to how to have the CD/DVD or USB show up as possible boot options.

    Thank you

Dell Optiplex PC’s have no BIOS option to specify CD/DVD or USB as part of the boot sequence.

To actually boot from a CD/DVD or USB, press F12 when the Dell logo appears during the boot process to display the one-time boot menu.

It’ll display available boot devices as follows:

        Removable USB Drive (if available)
        STXXXX Drive (XXXX = Drive#)
        Optical Drive (if available)
        SATA Hard Drive (if available)
Diagnostics (displays the ePSA diagnostics screen)

In order for a USB drive to show as an available boot device:

General > Boot Sequence > Boot List Option > Legacy External Devices must be selected.

Secure Boot > Secure Boot Enabled must be disabled (i.e. unchecked).

System Configuration > USB Configuration > USB Boot Support must be enabled.
