I am only an experienced newbie.
I am running Opera 10.63 on Win XP.
I love Opera but hate the new bookmark setup.
I never had a problem with Opera 10.52 (think that was the old version I was using ) .
I have not installed Opera 11 yet, but I am sure I will have the same problem since the situation below has been ongoing in the last 2 or 3 Opera version.
Don’t know what has changed since Opera 10.52.

    MY PROBLEM >>>>
Often I go to a website ie a plumbing website and find a bunch or different pages on that one site that I want to bookmark.
FIRST time I can bookmark the site with no problems.
I go to bookmark the SECOND page on that site and DON’T get the box to bookmark it.
I get a PROPERTIES box apparently telling me I already bookmarked the site.
It often takes a LONG time sorting thru links on a site to get the info one wants.
WHY can’t I bookmark ALL PAGES on a site INDIVIDUALLY as I did with Opera 10.52 ???

I did post in an Opera forum but could not make sense of the answer.
I think I was told it was ALREADY BOOKMARKED………well I know that, but I want these other pages ALSO bookmarked.
In some cases I had placed the links onto the PERSONAL bar and would go back to the site with the plan to bookmark it after more thorough examination.
I removed the site from the PERSONAL bar thinking I could then bookmark the site………….NO GOOD.
I did not CLOSE Opera after removing the link from the PERSONAL bar and then reopen and try to bookmark the site………don’t know if that is the problem.

While it would be nice to know WHAT has changed in Opera since version 10.52, I am more interested in knowing HOW to fix this problem >>>>>>>>

HOW can I fix this bookmarking problem assuming I have described it effectively………I can’t be the only one with the problem based on posts in the Opera forum.
Am I trying to do something in Opera that I can’t accomplish ???

    Thanks for all replies.

I’m now using Opera 11, but I’m sure you’re right that the behaviour is likely to be the same. You don’t give an example of a site where this happens, but I have just tried going to http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport and then I bookmarked the page. I then clicked on the link to Rugby Union at http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/rugby-union and I was also able to bookmark that page. But if I then tried to bookmark http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/rugby-union again it told me I had already bookmarked the page.

At a site where you encounter this issue, does the URL in the address bar change when you move to another page? If you were to click on http://www.igw.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/page15.html (sorry to self-advertise) and click on successive thumbnails, different pictures come up but the URL remains http://www.igw.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/page15.html because the page uses flash and by displaying different photos it isn’t actually moving to another page.

Other than that, I don’t know what to say? What method are you using to bookmark the page?

      Thanks for the response >>>>>>>>>>

I found a great site to help me with my furnace problem. I also discovered other links/pages on the same site that apply to me.
Typically I can BOOKMARK the site the FIRST time but can’t do it for the subsequent links/pages.
I had no problem doing this in Opera 10.51.
There are dozens of links on this site that I don’t want to dig thru again.
Hence I want to BOOKMARK each one individually.
Again, I had no problem doing this in Opera 10.51 and still don’t if I use that computer which I am NOT using as my main computer.

I want to BOOKMARK all of these pages on one particular site >>>>>

      http://www.inspectapedia.com/heat/Air_Removal_1.htm

      http://www.inspectapedia.com/heat/AirBleedValves.htm

      http://www.inspectapedia.com/heat/ExpansionTanks.htm

I have searched my BOOKMARKS to find these sites but I can’t find any of them in any of my BOOKMARKS.
I typed “inspectapedia” in the SEARCH box in MANAGE BOOKMARKS and found NOTHING.

I go to the sites above which I want to BOOKMARK and go to BOOKMARKS at top of Opera screen ( between VIEW and WIDGETS ) and click on BOOKMARK PAGE and instead of getting choices to NAME and the option to create a new FOLDER to save the bookmark sites , I get a BOOKMARK PROPERTIES BOX ….see the pix attached ( hope this works since I have never posted with a pix = tiny JPG ) >>>

I posted this problem in an Opera Browser Forum and one of the “gurus” there with over 18,000 posts said this …………this makes no sense since I CAN’T find any bookmark with the pages I want above >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The bookmark already exists, that’s why you’re seeing the bookmark properties dialogue. If you really do want to bookmark it again, open the bookmarks panel, open the target folder, and drag it into the open folder wherever you want it.

      Thanks again in advance !!!

Also, not sure why you have the problem. However, as a workaround you could always copy a section title(s) into Opera Notes.
At least you would have a link to each page still.

I’ve just tried in Opera 11 with the 3 pages from the site you mention. It bookmarks all 3 pages separately.

Within bookmarks I have a number of different folders, with bookmarks grouped depending on function or type. For example there are folders called Reference, Search Engines, Internet/Email, Electronics, etc. For ones that I want to delete before long there’s a folder called New Bookmarks.

I click on Bookmarks on the menu line (between View and Widgets) and move the cursor down to the New Bookmarks folder. This brings up a sub-menu with the items Bookmark Page… and Open All Folder Items, as well as the bookmarks stored in the folder. Click on Bookmark Page.. and it displays a pop-up window which lets you name the bookmark, specify the folder to store it in, create a new folder, or display more details of the page. Click on OK to store the bookmark with the default options, or change the name, nickname, description, etc to whatever you desire.

I don’t recall this being a problem in earlier versions of Opera. I have numerous bookmarks stored from the same site, such as books of interest from various booksellers, and this has never caused any problems.

I too have tried bookmarking all three of the pages you link to, and Opera 11 let me do it. I then tried to bookmark one of them again in a different folder within my bookmarks, (by clicking on the red Opera Menu button, choosing Bookmarks, navigating to a subfolder, and then choosing Bookmark page) but then it told me that the I had already bookmarked the page, even though not in the same subfolder.

However, the dialog box it brings up does tell me where the Bookmark that already exists has been stored. (See screenshot). (In this case the “Bookmarks” folder.) Can you use that information to track down the bookmark that allegedly already exists?
