I had a problem a few days ago where none of my mouseclicks on the desktop would do anything. The mouse was fine (it worked inside applications). I tried to restart and the box that says Restart or Shutdown, oddly said “Install updates and shut down.” I had installed some Windows updates a few days earlier, but I already restarted for those.

I had the blue screen come up and it said, BAD_POOL_CALLER and had to manually shut Windows down.

Later, here are the error lines I got:

    STOP: 0X0000000c2
    (0x00000007, 0x00000110B, 0x080D00D, 0x8683A790)

After logging in normally, I got a similar blue screen–this time
    (0x00000007, 0x00000110B, 0x080A0009, 0x88B12E48)

After that, I started in Safe Mode and can’t remember what I did…probably Disk Cleanup. After that started in normal mode and haven’t had a problem.

I got new memory about a month ago. Other than that, no new hardware. And, it’s been many months since I’ve had a crash dump.

I know some of you guys can interpret these error messages. I’d appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

I would try Googling for STOP C2 – this is a pretty rare Stop Code that I have never encountered…

Thanks. I saw a few things but all about XP. I have Vista *Service Pack 1* running on a machine that used to have XP.

The C2 stop code can be caused by a driver error. You should ensure that your drivers particularly video & sound are up-to-date.

Thanks Joe. I needed to update a RAID controller driver. Speaking of drivers, I checked for most of the devices. Do I need to search for updates for Control Panel/Device Manager/System devices, or USB devices? It seems pretty cumbersome to right click each thing….is there a shortcut to checking for drivers?

In recent post 722,558 the program My Drivers was discussed. It’s NOT FREE. I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve got a downloaded copy sitting here that I’ve not gotten the time to try yet. You might have more “motivation” than I do. grin

I have an additional crash dump message…here is the full run down of past messages, and the new one (***). My drivers are fine. Please, any more advice? Could it be my memory chips (about a month old–no problems until a few days ago).

I restarted the computer, and this is what came up as it restarted.
