HP EliteBook 8770w originally came installed with Windows7 Pro and my husband followed the Microsoft update and went to Windows 10.  Didn’t use this laptop for a while and now am unable to use it due to a blue screen at start up.  It ways “Recovery.  Your PC/Device needs to be repaired.  The operating system couldn’t be loaded because a critical system driver is missing or contains errors.  File:\Windows\System32\driver\amdsata.sys.  Error code: 0xc000007b.  You’ll need recovery tools… blah blah blah.

Press Enter to try again – doesn’t work.

Press F8 for Startup Setting – I went through all 9 options and nothing worked.

Do not have any recovery disks or backups.  Downloaded the Windows 10 Recovery tool and ran it and got stuck at trying to reinstall as it couldn’t find a hard drive.

Ran checkdisk and memory checks and they all passed.

I have no idea what to do.  I would really appreciate any advise or direction.
