i have to make a block diagram that i’m eventually going to include in a ms word document. am i best off just making the diagram straight in word with the draw functions or should i use something else? the MS programs i have available to me at work are: access, excel, infopath, powerpoint, project, publisher, and producer (no visio). is there maybe an outside MS program that i should use rather than word (thats free)?

    Thanks,

You’ll go nuts trying to use the Word drawing feature if your diagram has the least bit of complexity to it (more than two boxes with an arrow in between). My first choice would be Visio, but that’s not available to you. My second choice would be PowerPoint.

Be careful pasting the PP graphic into Word, especially if you intend on resizing it. If all else fails, try “Paste Special” You’ll lose the ability to edit in-document, but fonts and size ratios will be preserved.

i ended up making half of it in Word and then the other half in MS Paint since Word starts to become a pain in the moon after a while. this was the result: (converting .bmp to .gif lost most of the texture effects)
