Just a question. There is this big talk about the big November Update of W 10 starting on Nov. 12. I have not seen anything in the update as of today.
Does anyone know when it is coming? I have W 10 Pro installed.

AskWoody PlusNovember 13, 2015 at 12:18 pm #1537259Have you changed the Win 10 Update settings to defer feature upgrades, or whatever it’s called?
There are two or three active topics on this already. Have you checked them?
No, I have not changed to defer updates. Apparently, it seems to be a problem to MS to get it out. Is there no link where one can download it?

AskWoody PlusNovember 13, 2015 at 5:58 pm #1537294I have updated Windows 10 on VMware Player to Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.3). When I went to Windows Update and clicked on Check for Updates, it came right up.
I’ve been checking win updates for the last 2 days so some are getting it sooner than others.
Don't take yourself so seriously, no one else does ๐
All W10 Pro at 22H2,(2 Desktops, 1 Laptop).

AskWoody PlusNovember 13, 2015 at 6:15 pm #1537296I upgraded from W 8.1 to W 10 on July 30- but not via thje *.1 update way ( it always failed for some reason), but downloading the W10 upgrade, and then installing it w/o loosing my applications and personal files. The version I have is 10.0.10240 Build 10240. I have all updates installed since. So, what is the problem that this d…d thing does not show up.
I have the impression that we the customers are the enemy for MS. A bit more customer friendliness would MS do good. I am frustrated. Sorry being harsh.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 14, 2015 at 3:03 am #1537329I don’t know precisely when Microsoft blew kisses my way. But the November update to 10586.3 version 1511 started when I switched my computer ON on Friday 13th, 19:15h Redmond time. Clearly the Windows updates team ignores superstition. :^_^:
The download took 5 minutes and the actual installation of the update another 25 minutes.
It went without a hitch, probably because when the update started, my local date and time was Saturday 14th, 04:15h, not Friday any more.
A little remark though: the active window now has a coloured title bar, your choice colour. I like that, grabbing to drag is easier.
Except … the settings folder and its subfolders, their title bars remain white. I wonder why.Update:
That pesky Insyde Airplane Mode HID Driver reappeared in my Device Manager. ๐กAs I will never use my too-heavy-and-large-to-tote-in-handluggage notebook during a flight, I uninstalled that device again, assuming this won’t impact on any other devices. But I also put it in the list of hidden updates, hoping it will not reappear with a next update.
Am I wrong?

AskWoody LoungerNovember 15, 2015 at 5:27 am #1537447As far as I can see from a quick check on the interweb, that is a freeware driver that either came with your computer or you loaded. Are you saying that a Windows update reinstalled it???
No. During the clean install Win10 must have acquired my Clevo’s Hotkey drivers containing the Insyde software. But in Device Manager the Insyde Airplane Mode Mini Driver was marked as not correctly installed.
Because, for me, this airplane mode is unneeded, I uninstalled it.
That proved to be useless as at reboot it always comes back (and still incorrect). Even after uninstalling it AND deleting its driver files.

AskWoody PlusNovember 14, 2015 at 2:55 pm #1537393The update turned up on my laptop yesterday evening. Download about 10 min. or less, installation; 1h 20 min. which seems a bit too long though no problems encountered (i3 Intel processor, 2.4 GHz).
However, for my desktop PC it has not turned up yet. This is becoming ridiculous on part of MS.MKR

Paul Thurrott has a column on not being offered the update…
Eventually I did this for my desktop PC. The installation worked fine and w/o problems though a bit too long for my taste.
After the installation, I picked up 2 odd things: 1) The new apps Skype video, phone and messaging are not working at all; They all end up in an error code 0xA0000001. God only knows what the heck this is. I have Skype desktop installed. 2) The color “improvement” is at best minimal, basically useless. What I want is a personalization like in XP and W 7. Why MS cannot put back in is a riddle to me. 3) I had to reinstall one of my two printers – very odd.

On your #1, after updating 2 Desktops I picked up a request on Skype on both computers similar to Facebook’s “friend”. I’ve never used Skype and didn’t know it would have a similar feature. Had no clue who the woman was so Declined the invitation [have to keep the wife happy, you know]. It’s certainly something I don’t need to waste time on, probably would have liked it not working and done nothing with it.
Before you wonder "Am I doing things right," ask "Am I doing the right things?"

This worked well for me, I’m glad I checked System Restore though as it was turned off. Also noticed Speccy was removed. Very happy with the update.
