Currently we have 56 Office 2016 patches, totaling size over 1 GB
Office 2013 got 68 patches, with size over 1.5 GB

both should have new service pack, but i don’t think this would happen (ever?), wince the development is focused on the C2R version

Just to be clear, on Win7 Pro x64, checked WU to see whether it was still functional and got one important update, unchecked, for Excel 2010, KB4011617. The MS documentation is as obtuse as ever but seems to indicate that it fixes crashes in Win10 1709.

Since I have no intention of ever running Win10 on this workstation and intend to run Win7 and Office 2010 to EOL in 2020, assume I can hide KB4011617 and forget it? No value to Win7 users, right?

KB4011617 is a non-security DECEMBER update. It is not covered by the current DEFCON-3 (Nov patches) and it is UNCHECKED. I wouldn’t install it.

Hide it or wait till it disappears.

KB4011031 – Improvements and fixes: This update enables telemetry logging when you open cloud files in Office 2016.

Since when is more snooping considered an improvement/fix?

      DefCon 2 maybe?

      • #150151

DEFCON-1 or 2 for December patches (that hasn’t been determined yet)

DEFCON-3 for November patches (and earlier months) – follow Woody’s instructions to install.

Usual rules apply: If it isn’t check, don’t check it.

These should appear as unchecked “Important” updates.

      No office suites installed.

Just Wordpad, Notepad, Excel viewer, PP viewer, Word viewer.

Do I need all these updates?

The viewers are like a runtime version of the Office applications and they need security fixes same as.
