Best way to use Vlookup? (2003)

Hi all & Happy New Year!

I have problem deciding how to use vlookup in the attached spreadsheet.

The objective is to find how many times a number in each cell in column A appears in columns C,D,F.
The desireable result should be displayed as in column B Total.

You don’t need VLOOKUP. You can use COUNTIF.

Try this: =COUNTIF($C$2:$E$6,A2), and copy it down the B column using autofill.
