We have several updates waiting since we disabled the W10-Pro updater.
What app can we trust to provide control of the updater like was possible with W7 ?

Below is a list of what we found some time ago that were recommended at various forums etc:

1 – Windows Update Manager (WuMgr), by David Xanatos
2 – Windows Update Blocker (WUB), by Sordum
    3 – StopUpdates10, by Greatis Software
4 – Windows Update MiniTool (WUMT), by ?
    5 – WinUpdateStop v1.4, by NoVirusThanks
    6 – O&OShutUp10, by O&O Software GmbH
    7 – Sledgehammer 2.7.2, hy pf100
    8 – Wushowhide, by Microsoft
9 – Windows 10 Update Assistant, by Microsoft

Which program (or something else better) works the most like what was possible with W7 options (hide or install, etc) to control updating, and which is the most reliable and trustworthy ?

And if we start to use a program, how do we deal with the 11 updates that W10 Pro keeps telling us are ready to install ?

Not sure if this is the correct forum for the question, and if not please direct us to the correct one.
    Thank you.

Thanks again for your help, akm (Dell Inspiron 15 (forced from W7 to W10), Ofc2003. FireFox, Privatefirewall 7, Avast, SuperAntiSpyware, MBAM)!

I use WuMgr as an adjunct to Windows Update. It can also be used as a replacement for WU –  it still uses the WU components to check / perform updates, so don’t disable anything WU manually.

You also list a tool that turn off some of the telemetry – ShutUp10. AFAIK this doesn’t replace WU.

Free portable WuMgr / WUMT will block / unblock pending updates and even install those selected for update.
As you are on Pro version there is no need to disabled the W10-Pro updater or defferals
Just go to Group Edit and set ‘Notify don’t install’ = 2.

Thanks to all for the info!
WuMgr sounds good, and it looks like they have a forum ( github.com/DavidXanatos/wumgrfor )  for questions.
Also it looks like there is a guide at askwoody.com/forums/topic/guide-to-using-wumgr-for-windows-10-updates/
Have about 12 updates on hold with W10 updater settings and will probably need some help with how to deal with those and the installation of WuMgr.

There is no installation for WUMgr, unzip and run, click the required button, relax…
