    Hi All,

I find myself having to choose between the best of 2 evils in terms of which browser to use.

My set up is running Win 7 Home, using Yahoo mail.

With IE 11, I find myself losing keystrokes when writing emails – composing email is painstakingly slow. Don’t know why – some combination of IE and Yahoo? But downloading files and viewing pdf’s works fine.

With Firefox 51.0.1, downloading files is a bit of a pain. For example, although I’ve switched the setting to allow viewing of pdf’s w/i Firefox, it seems like this setting is not sticky. Next time around, it’s giving me a Save dialog. On the other hand, email in Yahoo works fine!

So I’m not sure what the problem is.

I’m hesitant to download Chrome since I don’t know what problems I’d run into there.

    Any thoughts?

    TIA

    Fred

It may be worthwhile to reset IE settings at Control Panel, Internet Options, Advanced tab, Reset (bottom right).

        Thanks Bruce.

Not sure what resetting will accomplish. I do understand that doing that should restore any Advanced settings I may have changed to the default value. And I probably have changed a few settings. But I don’t see any settings that would seem to pertain to the problem I’m having. That being the case, how would resetting that option (wherever it is) or any other setting under the Advanced tab address the issue?

Further, I know I changed some settings a while ago but the “typing problem” is more recent.

Often a good place to start debugging is to change settings back to*default. With complex modern programs it is almost impossible to tell what a setting or combination of settings will affect.

I am guessing that Yahoo is using some very*complex JavaScript to manage*its web based email. You will most likely not change how it is processed by resetting IE to defaults unless you’ve made changes to security settings restricting scripting.

Have you tried clearing IE cache?*

Slow typing in IE could be a display driver issue: IE 9, 10, 11 – Slow/Lag when typing
