I am running latest version of Win10.  My current cloud backup has gotten expensive, so I am looking for another Cloud backup service.  I am using Macrium for local backup.  I am considering:  Acronis, Backblaze, Idrive.  I know Acronis will duplicate what Macrium is doing (Acronis seems to have a lot of features) – but I purchased Macrium a while ago and have been using it with my cloud backup.   I’d read a few reviews saying Acronis can be a little difficult for the average user – I’d say I am SLIGHTLY above-average technically, IMHO : ) but I don’t want to struggle with any software!  I’ve read that Idrive and Backblaze are both good – maybe Idrive slightly better and am leaning toward that.

Any suggestions? Any other backup suggestions? I’m not interested in free software.  I figure I will end up paying about $50/year – idrive has a special running for 1st year, I’m sure there’s offers out there for all.  I am single user, not huge data needs, my current backup says it’s 28gb.  thanks.

I’ve got clients with idrive (free), carbonite and backblaze. I prefer backblaze out of the 3, but have to use a workaround to get it to backup some program files folders. I really liked SOS Online backup which I used for years, but when they raised their prices a couple years ago I had to drop them. I use backblaze for my systems and the majority of my clients.

You can setup a second backup in Macrium using the cloud as the target, as long as you can access the cloud via SMB. Macrium recommend Azure file shares, but others may work as well. Then you are only paying for data.

Personally, I’d only store a few critical files in the cloud (password database) and the real backups on local hard disk(s).

Hi Paul. Thank you for your feedback & trying to save me money : D  I really don’t want to maintain another annual subscription.  What is SMB? I have One Drive.  And Icloud.  But I get your point about security of cloud backup.  One Drive has a Personal Vault.  Don’t know how secure it really is – e.g. if an employee wanted to get in – but it’s more secure than no protection of other cloud services.  And what do you mean by ‘only paying for data’?   I really like Macrium too.  thanks.

Read the article I linked for SMB details.

Only paying for data means not beholden to a particular supplier. You get to choose the cheapest storage and merely dump the backup on there.

Macrium allows you to run “post backup” commands, so you could make a small backup (password protected for security) and run a post backup command to copy the backup to your cloud store, or dump the backup in a cloud sync folder and let the sync do the work.

          cheers, Paul
