There are certain topics and sections that I want to keep for members only.  Similar to how the newsletter has benefits , the forum will have different benefits if you are anon with the mandate to put in any email address, or if you are logged in but not necessarily a plus member but I may have some content at a later date that is plus member only. But that’s down the road and in future plans.

I got a new plug in coded up to make certain topics members only and I screwed up and made it plus members only.  Right now it’s only enabled on one post, in the Windows 7 end of life forum so if you suddenly can’t get into that and are a logged in user, hang loose, I’m in the process of asking the developer to make the change and will post back in here when I have it fixed.

Bottom line, don’t panic, just be patient and it will be back for registered members soon.  I will change the Preface on the title of the topic once it’s fixed.

Personally, I prefer the open forum format. As soon as I have to bother with creating accounts, logging in, captchas, … I’m basically out.

Surely that precludes you from the majority of sites these days, except this one of course. And you will still be welcome here.

If you notice this forum – there are no annoying advertisements embedded in the site.  I personally make a choice to not have embedded advertisements.  In my (clearly opinionated) opinion, you are missing out on a lot of great content not being a plus member.

I wonder if my emails to you regarding my Plus membership being broken might be going to spam?  I first wrote about two weeks ago, and again recently.  It still says Plus member next to my username when I log in, but I am not receiving any Plus-member newsletter emails, nor can I access them manually.  The Private Messaging system also denies me permission to access it.  Thanks.

EDIT:  I note it doesn’t show the Plus icon next to my name in this post.

Hi – I have a similar problem as Rick41.  I paid a $20 Plus renewal on 2/8/2025 with Visa.  On your system the payment is still “processing”, but it’s recorded on my Visa statement as a 2/9/2025 payment to Ask Woody.

The last Plus Newsletter I received was on 2/17/2025.  I’ve sent two emails to address the issue with no reponse being received.  This is the third attempt.

My Ask Woody logon is tom242 and my email is (email address removed for privacy).

Please re-instate my Plus membership and send or allow me to access newsletters from 2/24/2025 to present.

Whenever you see “processing” that means you’ve done a donation not a subscription renewal.  Hang loose let me fix.  And remember you can email customersupport@askwoody.com.  I may not (I will not  this time of year) get back to you quickly but I will get back to you.
