Here’s an interesting little question that has been posed.

In order to prevent data theft, is it possible to prevent USB sticks, portable drives, etc from working, whilst still allowing other USB items to work?

Where I work has quite gaily deployed Sanctuary across all the PCs onsite (a lot!!). It definitely stops some usb connections while allowing others.

Complicated my life no end in my role as (official) IT support for my department, (but unrecognised as official by IT Central)

Edited to say: with administrator privileges on Win2k it can be uninstalled, but Altiris (my other scourge) eventually puts it back…

McAfee do one as well. Needless to say it’s not cheap.

      cheers, Paul
