Tried to use Win 7’s BackUp for my data files but got error logs noting that the system couldn’t find ANY of my library files. The following is an example. In all there was an error message for each (7) of the libraries base files/directories
    Backup Files 2010-02-05 121751_error.log
C:Windowssystem32configsystemprofileMy Books. Error:(The system cannot find the file specified. (0x800700002)) AND
C:UsersMalVideos. Error:(The system cannot find the file specified. (0x800700002))
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this ???

    Thanks

      Hi John,

Take a look here at Microsoft TechNet to see if these replies help.

Yes I saw those posts and tried them out … NO success.
Although it’s tantamount to quitting, I stopped trying to use the MS Backup and am now using Paragon BackUP & Recovery. I just didn’t want to leave all my data at risk especially after just getting it organized correctly (or at least to my satisfaction)

      Thanks for the assistance

0x800700002 is a hard error to diagnose because it is not very specific.
Just for laughs, have you done check disk on the volume you are backing up to?
Also go through the actual volume tree for your libraries checking the permissions.
I found that when I looked into the advanced options on some of my folders, there was a type deny for some permissions.
Microsoft whould be clearer what they should be.
I found that when I changed the deny permission, my problem went away.
Still some of the many shortcuts that Win7 is littered with say ‘deny’!
I think they prevent me from navigating to my own data directories via the shortcut, but I can get to them going through “C:”, “Users”, “MyUserName” etc.
to me, that makes absolutely no sense.

I think a lot of that stuff was generated for compatibility with the ancient “My Documents” nomenclature.
To me, that was dumb from day one.
