    hi,
For some strange and annoying reason my backspace key works as a button to flip me back to the previous screen.

situation: I am filling fields on a page with fillin fields and I jump back to a previous field.

When I use the backspace key to empty the field i get flipped back to my previous screen!
i’ve always thought this was an annoying feature but now i’ ve noticed a couple pc’s without this problem.
so my question: how can i get rid of this functionality
    does anyone know?

Is the text window where you’re typing ‘Active’ when you hit backspace?

Reply to this message. Click on the text box that appears, type some gibberish, then backspace over it… I’ve only been able to replicate this problem if the focus is elsewhere when I hit ‘backspace.’

      Hope this helps!

        got your message
        Thanks!

apparently it only happens in a couple sites that I frequently visit. they all have the same habit
that when you fill in something and hit enter
it comes back with a correction in a field, with that field selected but locked so they seem editable but the are not
then when you hit Bksp it flips back to the previous page

This can be pretty annoying, and I would love to know how to turn off this backspace “feature”.

When this happens, users tend to think they’ve lost everything they’ve just typed. They don’t realize what’s happened, and that you can just hit the forward button (or ALT-RIGHTARROW) to get back to the page you just left.

      All using IE 5 SP2.
