• Backing up wmf/cil files (Office 97 and up)

What is the best way to back up, and store for future use, wmf (windows metafile) files downloaded from the Microsoft site as .cil files?

I have downloaded about 2 dozen cil files. Each contains maybe 10 wmf files on a given subject, so I have them stored as boats.cil, tools.cil etc. I want to be able to use them in the future, maybe with Office 2003 or maybe with other applications. Since the wmf files (which get put in the Office Gallery when the cil files are run) only have numbers for names and are not in any particular order, it would take a lot of time to order them and copy them to back them up.

Is there a program (besides MS Office) which can open (unzip so to speak) these cil files? Will Office 2003 be able to do this?

I’m looking for a backup and storage, and future use, strategy. Thanks. J. Till

      Hi Jill:
Why can’t you use a regular back up program to back up these files? You could store them on a CDR. Organizing them is another matter & I’m afraid I haven’t downloaded any cil files so I can’t comment on that.
