I went to a Microsoft website which offered sample database. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistan…1201381033.aspx%5B/url%5D It gave a lot of really great tips but what really caught my eye was the background that was used for the forms. They used a picture of a light colored sky which was really easy on the eyes.

How did they do that? I’ve gone into the properties and everything else that I could think of but, being an access rookie, I couldn’t figure it out. I’ve been able to take a picture of my own and add it to the switchboard but everytime I try to do the same thing on a regular form, it goes on top and hides all of my fields. I haven’t found any options to send it to the background. What did they do? It’s free software but I’m not sure if I can attach it. The background that I would like to use is found in the sample forms.

There are some backgrounds available through the AutoFormat button on the toolbar (or Format | AutoFormat…)

You can set your own background by opening the form in design view, and clicking the Picture property, then clicking the … button on the right. You can browse to your picture.
Next, set the Picture Size Mode property. There are 3 options:
Clip = show picture “as is”; it may be not fill the form, or you may see just a part of it.
Zoom = resize picture to fill as much of the form as possible without distorting it.
Stretch = resize picture to fill entire form, distorting it if necessary.

Note: you can also specify whether the picture will be embedded in the form, or linked. The latter takes up less space, but you must ensure that the picture file remains available.

Thank you Hans. That was very helpful.

I didn’t know that you could create your own background using the AutoFormat! How cool is that!!!

        Access is so exciting.
        Thanks again.
