    has anyone had any luck opening an .awd file on win xp machines? i’ve opened these files on win98se machines for years and i’m suprised to find that xp does not recognize them.

      Microsoft provides a conversion utility on the Windows XP CD. Look under i386win9xmigfaxawdvstub.exe. Run it with no command line arguments to get its options. Use the /c command-line switch to convert an AWD file to a TIFF file.
      If you want to run Awdvstub.exe from your local machine, rather than from the CD, you’ll also need to copy Faxtiff.dll.
