I am running AVG 8.5.320 on win xp – service pack 3 and suddenly this week a new icon appeared in my task bar – AVG Identity Protection, it shows as disabled.

I have no idea what this is, but I have had so many problems with AVG taking over my machine, I am not going to enable it until I know more about it.

Does anyone have any experience with this bit of software?

It is something new added to the AVG Internet Security Suite with version 8.5. AVG seems to be loading up its suite with more & more “stuff” as the other security vendors are doing.

I don’t use the AVG suite so I can’t comment about the software. You can go to AVG Antivirus and Security Software – Press Releases & News for the AVG propaganda about it.

        Thanks Joe

After reading the propaganda, I think this is another bit of software that will take over a users cycles – I am going to leave it turned off

Why not just remove it ??

Take a look here for some more info about this add-on and removal instructions for the stand alone and suite included versions.

            Thanks Doc

I mistakenly assumed it was part of the security setup – rmove program worked fine
