AVG Free slow updates

For the last week or so, I have found that the update site for AVG free version 7 has been very slow to respond, if it responds at all. On version 6, you used to be able to edit the url.ini file so as to get updates from http://www.grisoft.com rather than from free.grisoft.cz, when the latter got slow, but there seems to be no url.ini file in version 6. Anyone know of a workaround?

There are multiple complaints at the AVG Free Forum :: Update Issues. So, you are not alone. You’ll need to be patient as Grisoft tries to work out the update issues.

Thanks. And rooting around in the program, I find that there is a setting where you could change the URL, but only in the ‘Professional’ edition, not the free one. In the Control Centre, you click on Update Manager, then settings, then the URL tab.

I go straight to the download site, download the file then update it from my hard disk. I never have any problems.

Yes, if I keep having trouble I may resort to that.
