The topic from October 2022 is now closed. I have a similar issue and would like to download an alternate copy if someone could provide the link again. I am unable to install the copy I have of Avery Design Pro 5.5.708.0 DPSetup which I have used in Windows 7. In Windows 10, at the beginning of the install, a popup reads “The central directory was not found in the archive (or you were trying to open not the last disk of a multi-disk archive)”.

I am running Windows 10 64 bit. I have tried compatibility mode for 32 and 64 bit installs. The compatibility modes I have tried are for XP 2, XP3, Vista , 7 and 8. All return the same error at the very beginning of the attempted installation.

I am in hopes that perhaps another version of the software might work.

Don’t be surprised I will be adding multiple links for the same software just in case once link stops working there will be another one for the same file. You don’t need to download all of them though.

Avery no longer offers the Avery Design & Print nor the Avery DesignPro 5 software for download but it is still available on various (not easy to find) websites.

I have downloaded several version and they all install and run on windows 11 without any issues. No need to change settings like compatibility mode etc. They just work out of the box.

I start with the latest and greatest version and will be finishing with the older ones.

      1. Avery Design & Print Online
As the name suggests this is the online version and no installer is needed just a browser. It is still free to use and you don’t need to create an account, just click on one of the images at the bottom of the page to get started.
        https://www.avery.co.uk/welcome-to-design-and-print
Of course this could disappear or become subscription based at any time..
And I guess this is why people still want the older offline variants.
      2. Avery Design & Print Desktop
Avery no longer provides support for the desktop version and they no longer update this software.
It is no longer available, however the download page is still live on their server you just cannot navigate there through their main website.
A little bit of search on the web and voilà here is is.
        https://www.avery.com/software/design-and-print/desktop
Just in case this would disappear in the future you can still reach this page on the internet archive.
        https://web.archive.org/web/20221003090618/https://www.avery.com/software/design-and-print/desktop
      3. Avery DesignPro 5.5
This software is available from a Hungarian website however not in English.
Seems like this is the latest version ever released but may be I’m wrong.
        Avery DesignPro 5.5.0708.0 .

        Hungarian:
        http://www.cimkeshop.hu/avery/programok/EU_hu_DP5_DL_20100525.exe
        https://web.archive.org/web/20230201231512/http://www.cimkeshop.hu/avery/programok/EU_hu_DP5_DL_20100525.exe?OpenDocument

        https://web.archive.org/web/20230201231456/https://averybolt.hu/avery-cimketervezo-programok

And there is one on the archive that states it is English but yes and no. It is the same Hungarian installer with an additional dll file that you can copy and overwrite into the directory of the already installed program and the application will be English. A little bit manual but it works and it really is English after the patch.

      4. Avery DesignPro 5.4 Limited Edition
( Also called as Avery DesignPro Media Edition )
While trying to find an English 5.5 installer I found a 5.4 in English loaded with templates.
You will need to start the installer as administrator ( right click, Run as administrator ) otherwise nothing will happen.

        Full ISO CD file:
        https://archive.org/details/Avery_DesignPro_Media_Edition_PN_129002_Avery
A smaller file but also works just fine:
        https://www.procontrol.hu/sendfile/Avery/AveryDesignPro_ver5_4.zip
And the same thing on the waybackmachine:

      5. Avery DesignPro 5.0
This installer is a full ISO CD and it is MULTILANGUAL!
English, Croatian, Czech, Hungarian, Slovene, Polish, Russian, German
This was on the same Hungarian website where I found the 5.5 earlier.

      6. Avery DesignPro 4.0
This is the last one in the series I am dealing with here.
I don’t think anybody would choose this older version when there are newer alternatives however I do include it here just in case some one have compatibility issues ( assumingly on older machines ).
This website was used above as it hosts another version mentioned earlier.
        English:
        https://www.procontrol.hu/images/products/images/F90000/averydesignprolimitedrc7.exe

In my opinion the online editor is just fine but because of Avery’s way of retiring older software I don’t hold my word for this. Imagine you create a large number of designs and one day they all become useless. It is the latest and the best tool and it is good for occasional label designing but if you want a failsafe solution that will work for decades to come you may want to use an offline software.
Just remember to save the installer and make multiple copies in case one is lost or damaged.

Thank you SO much for this information.  I was miserable when Avery discontinued this program, and I am SO glad you provided the link to the stand-alone version.  You are a gem!

Thankyou so much for this.  I had the installation files for version 5 or 5.5 with American paper size templates, but my installation files for versions with euro (A4) templates (which are what I need) had become corrupted.

This download  https://web.archive.org/web/20230201231456/https://www.cimkeshop.hu/avery/programok/avery_designpro5.iso  from your option 5 worked perfectly.

The English dll file in option 3 appears to be no longer available, and I found that I could not work out the Hungarian.

The other English downloads come with American paper size templates.

They do not all uninstall cleanly.  I sometimes had to reinstall the pre-existing wrong version and uninstall it a second time before I could properly install another version.

      Dankeschön!!!!

I used option 5 (the iso-File) and could install my beloved DesignPro V. 5 on Windoes 10 again. Thanks a lot!!

      Thanks!

Our computers got upgraded to Windows 11 – and I had lost my copy of DesignPro V.5 – and the one I downloaded worked like a charm!

There aren’t enough words to thank you!

Suddenly, the program stopped opening files. When run a label file, nothing happens, if you open the program itself and open the file in it, nothing happens either. I tried to roll back Windows updates, change the compatibility of the program, reinstall, including deleting program files in hidden folders. Nothing helps. Maybe someone has faced a similar problem and get solution or ideas?

I am running version 4.00.3311.0 of Design Pro on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 Professional.  I just tested both installations and they opened my files just as they always have.

My installations are updated only through October, and they have NOT had the November Updates applied.

I’m pretty sure this version of Design Pro came from one of the links in post #2531415, above.

First time I encountered this problem a few months ago, this is the second case on different PC’s on the W10. Avery just stops open and save files. I tried DesignPro v5.0 from this topic, no changes.

Everything works great on the PC’s on W11 so far, also other PC’s on W10 where the same DesignPro v5.5.0708.0 is installed , no problems.

On my PC (W10), all DesignPro versions i tried – works fine, i have november Windows update KB5032005 and security update KB5032189.

My suggestion is to get the REVO Uninstaller. Run REVO, use the ADVANCED option, and totally wipe out both the v4 and v5 program. Reboot, and then re-install whichever version you want to use (or both). Older software might have had a DLL overwritten in one of the updates for win10. This should restore all of them.

HOWEVER, if it STILL will not work – then what you need to do is to install Oracle’s Virtual Box, and then install Windows XP into Virtual Box. (If you do not have XP but maybe have win7 or win8 – use that instead or get on EBay and find a cheap copy you can buy of XP, 7, or 8.) Then boot up Virtual Box and run the earlier OS. Virtual Box will allow you to print to any printer you may have on your system. Which might just fix your problem. However, what I was thinking was to check out the difference between the Virtual Box version of Design Pro and what is on your Windows 10 system. (Since both are running ya know.) I have done this for PhotoShop v6 which I really like and now PhotoShop v6 works on my win10 system. Last, but not least, there is a program you can get (I forget the name – it has been a couple of years since I used it) that will tell you every DLL a program is using. (Which is how I fixed PhotoShop v6 on win10.) All of these DLLs always go into the same folder where the program resides. The reason you do this is two fold. First, you don’t want to muck up your main os (ie: win10), and two DLLs found in the same directory as a program are always used FIRST. So by putting them into the same folder as Design Pro v4 or v5 resides – they will always use those DLLs before going to the Windows System Folder (System32 or SystemWOW).

Just my $0.02 worth of info.
