    Need help with this.
I have a shared Excel spreadsheet that is saved as a binary file, *.xlsb, that gives an automation when I try to open it

42784-automationerror The file is a training record and has quite a bit of code attached.

Does anyone know a work around so I can open the file. Once open I can run the debugger to try to determine the problem

Try holding the shift key as you double click the file icon to open it (Bypasses macros).

I managed to open it by converting it to Excel 2003 – attached.

The code has been preserved and, as you will see, it opens with a “Type Mismatch” error. I expect you can track this down.

        Bonriki.

I disabled your startup macros so you can open it and play with the code.

Was this a test to see if your security could be beat?

          Thanks Maude
No it wasn’t a test I could not disable the start up code using the usual hold the shift key when opening, so couldn’t get access to the code

        Thanks Martin
No code and about 40 sheets missing

This is how it opened for me side stepping macros with the shift key.

It opens fine for me with your measure of security which appears to be tied to the logged on windows user. I was able to bypass it by sidestepping macros with the shift key. You have your vbProject locked so I am not able to assist you with your code. Attempting to unlock it

I think the code IS there, but the VB project is locked.
